Highlights
  • Queswachaka - During the era of the ancient Incas, a vast network of roads spanned the entire territory, with the main route known as Qhapaq Ñan. These roads connected various paths of the Inca Empire, traversing the challenging terrain of the Andes. Along these routes, Hanging Bridges made from plant fibers were constructed. This intricate technology has been passed down through generations, and today, a single bridge continues to be renewed annually, preserving a tradition that has lasted over 500 years. Situated on the Apurimac River at an altitude of 3,700 meters, this last Inca bridge is called Q’eswachaka, or Inca Hanging Bridge. Each year, more than 1,000 people from four communities come together to restore its structure. In 2013, UNESCO recognized this ancient ritual as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
  • Lake Pomacanchi - We will take a brief 20-minute stop at this lagoon to enhance the excursion. Additionally, we will visit the smaller lagoons of Acopia, Asnaqocha, and Pampamarca to make the day more scenic and enjoyable.

A Unique Construction, I Love it! - I did this tour for the second time, but here the hike was the best, as this time I was accompanied with my guide, we walked slowly, enjoying the beautiful landscape, a really amazing construction in the middle of a canyon. Book the service with Peru Vip for this all-day walk and I really recommend them especially to those who love day hikes mixed with nature, culture and archaeology. A million thanks and regards.
