Amazing experience - It was one of the coolest tours we did, full of history, culture and surreal landscapes. The Guide was very attentive and told all the stories with enthusiasm, which made the tour much more interesting. The restaurant where we ate lunch (included on the tour) was very good, with several typical options and a very tasty atmosphere. If you come to Cusco, do not miss this tour, it is really amazing and the agency made the experience very comfortable and organized.

An unforgettable day in the Sacred Valley - This was one of our favorite days of our trip. We started with the visit to the Pisac archaeological complex, where we took a short hike to the top of the complex and saw llamas and alpacas along the way. We then visited the archaeological complex at Ollantaytambo. Our guide Rubén was amazing. He carried a booklet with him to illustrate his explanations of the sites we were visiting, which really enriched our understanding of what we were looking at. He was clearly experienced and also up to date on new findings related to Andean archaeology, which meant that we also got to learn about how the narratives about these sites had changed over the years. He also did a good job of managing the different physical abilities of the members our group, giving us options based on the level of activity we were comfortable with. One of the things I was most looking forward to about the trip was visiting a weaving center, and we did exactly that during the Chinchero portion of the day with a visit to Textil Quechua. One of the weavers who worked there gave us a detailed demonstration of how they clean the alpaca wool, produce natural dyes from local plant and animal life, spin and weave the wool. It was so cool! She was very charismatic and funny, making it one of our most memorable experiences in Peru. We ended up buying most of our baby alpaca souvenirs there. The prices were reasonable for the quality (not the synthetic stuff from the Cusco markets), and I was glad to be able to buy directly from the weavers. There are a number of great alpaca boutiques in Cusco that do sell real baby alpaca, but I suspect that when you purchase from those stores not as much money gets back to the weavers themselves. Our trip would not have been complete without this tour!
