• Cusipata - After about two hours, there is a stop at a local restaurant for breakfast. Here, you can enjoy a warm meal, sip on coffee or coca tea, use the restrooms, and prepare for the hike.

The journey continues to the trailhead near Rainbow Mountain. Before starting the hike, your guide will outline the route, provide key safety tips, and offer practical advice for hiking at high altitude.

• Rainbow Mountain Peru - The hike to Vinicunca typically takes between 1.5 and 2 hours, depending on your pace, weather conditions, and how you are acclimatizing to the altitude. The trail begins with a gentle incline, becoming steeper towards the end. The pace is relaxed, with breaks as needed.

Along the way, you will traverse expansive Andean landscapes and may encounter local herders, llamas, and alpacas, with views of the Ausangate region in the distance. Your guide will share insights about the area, its inhabitants, and the natural features along the route.

At the Rainbow Mountain viewpoint, there is time to rest, take photos, and admire the vibrant slopes of Vinicunca. Your guide will explain how the mineral composition of the soil creates the mountain’s various colors.

• Mirador del Valle Rojo - The journey continues to Red Valley, a breathtaking area of deep red hills and open landscapes, offering a more tranquil experience than the main Rainbow Mountain viewpoint.

After exploring Red Valley, the trail leads back to the starting point, with opportunities to enjoy the surrounding mountain scenery.

• Cusipata - The return drive takes you back to the restaurant for lunch. Here, you can unwind after the hike and savor a freshly prepared meal featuring local Peruvian ingredients.
• Cusco - Following lunch, the return journey to Cusco begins, with an expected arrival time of around 5:30 p.m.
