Palccoyo with Maik by Peru Exploor is a must - The Palccoyo Tour with Maik from Exploor Peru is highly recommended.
Early in the morning when we were picked up from the hotel, we were welcomed with blankets. Since it was still really cold and also very early we made ourselves comfortable on the bus.
But getting up early paid off quickly. We were the first group at the starting point of our hike. So we could enjoy the beautiful nature all to ourselves.
Maik our guide was careful not to take unnecessary luggage on the hike. Because every kilo more puts unnecessary strain on our bodies here at 4,800 m. So we slowly run upstairs. The view is indescribable. We make countless photo stops. Maik keeps asking about our well-being. He told us a lot about his country Peru.
Thank you so much Maik for this great experience with you, I will not forget this tour anytime soon. Maik was the best guide I met in Peru.
I can warmly recommend Exploor Peru and Guide Maik.

Beautiful trip to Palccoyo - Our tour to the Rainbow Mountain Palccoyo was an absolute highlight of our vacation. We can highly recommend Exploor Peru, everything really worked out across the board.
Our guide John Maik Taboada Quispe is particularly worthy of mention, he was the best guide we met on our 3-week trip through Peru.
He passed on his knowledge of Peru and the history of Peru to us that day in a very interesting and professional way. At first we were a little concerned about our age (46, 60, 65, 66 years) and the altitude of 4900 m, but Maik kept an eye on each of us and his manner and consideration made it a great experience for each of us to hike with him up Mount Palccoyo. Some of us even climbed the last steep section at 4960 meters.
We are very grateful to our guide John Maik for this experience.
Thank you Maik for this great day!

Great experience away from the tourist crowds - The tour was very well organized! From the pick up, drive, breakfast, hike to the 3 mountains, lunch and drop off, everything was great!
We were given water and blankets for the trip, a very attentive service! The driver Harald drove very well and safely and the guide Joshua gave us great information about the mountain area. He showed us a lot along the way that remained from the time when everything was still covered with water. The restaurant for breakfast and lunch was also well chosen!
The altitude took a toll on my husband, Joshua was considerate and we were glad we chose the Palccoyo and not Vinicunca. There were still alpacas!
Clearly recommend for a great experience without mass tourism!

Magnificent view of at least 3 different rainbow mountains - Magnificent view of at least 3 different rainbow mountains. It was a long journey from Cusco, but it was worth every cent. It is a great landscape. Our guide Joshua was very friendly and explained a lot to us. And stopping for alpaca photos during the car journey was no problem. Big compliments to our driver Harald, who mastered the narrow and unpaved back roads safely.
It is a great alternative to the Vinicunca, as at the end of the journey you only have to do a short hike of 1 km, and that is very strenuous at an altitude of 5000 m.

Highly Recommended! - Karina & German were wonderful hosts! Arriving early was 100% worth it as we had the mountain to ourselves for a while. We got a delicious breakfast and lunch, were able to walk alpacas, and Kary took some lovely pictures of us. She was very patient with us as we were struggling with the altitude a bit. Definitely recommend this tour.

Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain tour from Cusco - This tour to Palccoyo rainbow mountains was a great tour. My wife woke up not feeling well, so I ended up doing this tour solo with my guide Gris (and driver Erwin). The tour started at 3:30am with the seats in the vehicle reclined and pillows/blankets provided for napping during the 3-4 hour drive out of Cusco. We stopped about halfway to the mountains for a continental breakfast. The drive up the mountain from the main road is quite curvy, as expected, but had beautiful views of landscapes and llamas. When we arrived at out destination we were the only people on the mountain, an advantage of starting so early from Cusco. Gris and I walked the trail to the 3 view points and up through the rock garden for 2 hours. There are many rainbow mountains visible throughout the trail, but all of the rest of the mountain scenery is is equally, if not more, impressive than the rainbows. We were allowed to walk a portion of the trail with a llama named Hilario, giving a unique experience to the tour. When we reached the top of the mountain, Gris shared a toast of coca tea with me as we took in the nature. I would definitely recommend this tour to the Vinicunca rainbow mountain as it is a far easier 'hike', it's a similar distance from Cusco, and there is basically no crowd. There are toilets on site, 2 soles to use. After visiting the rainbow mountains, we went back to the same restaurant where breakfast was served and had lunch. Then we drove back to Cusco, arriving to my hotel around 3:00pm.

Great trip to rainbow mountain - Had a great time walking up the mountain with Luiyo, and Raul drove us there nice and safely. Would recommend this trip to anyone who loves great scenery

Palccoyo Mountains - I really enjoyed my tour to palccoyo. It was an amazing experience and Carlos was the best guide!
We got really lucky with the weather and were able to see a Kondor, lots of alpaca, vicuna and a dear high up in the mountains. The altitude was tough but Carlos was very patient und had good advice how to deal with it. To top our experience up we had really good breakfast and lunch in a local restaurant.
All in all one of the best tours I ever had!
