Cusco – Tinke – Pacchanta – Base Camp
Ausangate Trek - In the morning, around 7:00 am, the operator will pick guests up from their hotel in Cusco. The journey heads southeast along the Interoceanic highway, passing through Urcos, and after approximately 3 hours, arrives in Ocongate for any last-minute shopping.

Cusco – Tinke – Pacchanta – Base Camp
Ausangate Trek - In the morning, around 7:00 am, the operator will pick guests up from their hotel in Cusco. The journey heads southeast along the Interoceanic highway, passing through Urcos, and after approximately 3 hours, arrives in Ocongate for any last-minute shopping.
Next, the trip continues to Pacchanta, a 45-minute drive from Ocongate, where the group will meet the muleteers and mountain cook for the expedition.
After enjoying lunch, the trek begins, taking about 4 hours to reach the base camp. Along the way, trekkers will be treated to stunning views of Cusco’s main snow-capped mountains, including Ausangate (6,384 masl), Cayangate (6,110 masl), and others, accompanied by the region’s llamas and alpacas.
Upon arrival at the base camp, personal high mountain equipment (harnesses, crampons, ice axes, helmets, leggings, gloves) will be provided. The mountain guide will instruct on the proper use of the equipment, glacier safety, and ensure readiness for when needed.
Base Camp – Summit – Base Camp
Nevado Ausangate - Departure from base camp is at 3:00 am, with a light breakfast provided. It is crucial to begin the mountain ascent at dawn. After approximately 2 hours of climbing the moraine, the group will reach the glacier, where they will prepare with mountain equipment to enter the glacier.
After an additional 3 hours on the glacier, the summit of Qampa mountain, standing at 5,500 meters above sea level, will be reached. A half-hour break at the summit allows for rest and enjoyment of the breathtaking high Andean landscapes, surrounded by the snowy peaks of the Cordillera Vilcanota.
The descent back to base camp will take another 3 hours, where lunch will be ready, and the afternoon is free for rest after a fulfilling day.
Base Camp – Pacchanta - Cusco
Ausangate Hot Springs Pacchanta - Departure for Pacchanta is at 9 am after breakfast.
The journey to Pacchanta takes about 3 hours, where there is an opportunity to enjoy the thermal baths and purchase handicrafts from local artisans. After lunch, the return to Cusco is expected by around 6 pm.
Guests will be dropped off at their hotels, where they can relax and reflect on an unforgettable adventure!
