Lake Humantay taking the horse rides! ❤️ - We got picked up at 4:30am and we were offered blankets for the 2 hr drive, that was a nice touch! Breakfast was excellent. Then off to the hiking part. We took horses after about 40mins of walking. Horses were 80soles. We were able to enjoy the views becuase of the horse rides. Then you are dropped off close to the lake but need to hike about 15/20mins. The views of the lake are beautiful and breathtaking. Becuase we took the horses we could enjoy our time at the lake. One of the best views was walking along the lake on the right side and getting to a rock for a perfect pose.

Terrible experience with Sacura Expedition – Laguna Humantay (04/05/2025) - I took the trip to Laguna Humantay with the agency Sacura Expedition, based in Cusco, Peru, and unfortunately, the experience was far below expectations. The guide assigned to our group, Emanuel (also known as Emanuelito or Manuco), showed impatience and a lack of preparation from the very beginning. He answered questions briefly, provided little information, and never explained what the route would be — a 4 km hike at an altitude of 4,200 meters, which requires proper orientation and preparation. Before starting, he promised that he would stay with the last person in the group throughout the ascent. A promise he never fulfilled. At the beginning of the trail, he stopped at the horse rental area to have tea with some acquaintances, telling us, "You all go ahead, I will catch up with you" — and simply disappeared. He only reappeared when we reached the summit, after 2 and a half hours of hiking, just to rush us to take photos and inform us that the van was leaving soon. The agency promises that the guide carries a first aid kit and coca leaves for tourists (which help with altitude acclimatization). None of this was offered at any time — neither on the way up nor on the way down. On the descent, he promised again that he would accompany the last person in the group — and once again, he did not. He appeared at the foot of the trail in a mototaxi, charging 10 soles to take tourists to the van, when the hike had already ended. The result: I returned to my country with bronchial inflammation, I needed medication, and I faced the risk of thrombosis. It was a very difficult week — a direct consequence of the guide's irresponsibility, who never informed the group about the risks of altitude, did not provide any assistance during the tour, and abandoned the tourists throughout the journey. I do not recommend this agency under any circumstances. If you are planning to visit Laguna Humantay, research thoroughly and choose an operator that takes the safety of its clients seriously.
