The Ideal First Experience in Cusco – History, Culture, and Views Combined - We booked this half-day city tour for our first day in Cusco, and it turned out to be the perfect introduction to the city’s rich cultural heritage. The tour started in the historic center, where we visited the beautiful Cusco Cathedral. The architecture is stunning, and the paintings inside gave us a glimpse into the fusion of Spanish and indigenous cultures. From there, we continued to Qorikancha, the Temple of the Sun. Our guide explained how this was once the most important temple in the Inca Empire, covered in sheets of gold. Seeing how the Spanish built a convent right on top of it was both fascinating and a little heartbreaking. But the highlight was definitely Sacsayhuaman. The stonework is unlike anything I’ve ever seen—the massive stones fit perfectly without mortar, and the views over Cusco are incredible. Our guide brought the site to life with stories of Inca rituals, warfare, and architecture.

History Comes Alive in Cusco - Seeing these ancient places with a guide who clearly loves his heritage was inspiring. I left with a deeper respect for Inca engineering and culture. Sacsayhuamán was my favorite—it’s mind-bending how they built that!
