The journey to San Pedro de Cachora, heading towards Capuliyoc, takes about 4 hours, marking the start of the hike. Lunch will be served with a view of the Apurimac Canyon and the snow-capped Padreyoc before the adventure truly begins. Choquequirao will be visible in the distance, along with much of the path ahead and the stunning Apurimac Canyon.
Chiquisca - A descent of approximately 3 to 4 hours will take us through the Cocamasana viewpoints to Chikiska, where dinner and an overnight stay in a rural hostel with double or twin rooms await. The climate is warm, with mosquitoes present. Cold showers and shared bathrooms are available.
CHIKISCA - APURIMAC RIVER - SANTA ROSA - MARAMPATA
Canon Del Apurimac - The second day begins with an early breakfast at camp. Following breakfast, the descent continues for about an hour to the Apurimac River at Playa Rosalina. MARAMPATA - CHOQUEQUIRAO - SANTA ROSA OR CHIKISKA
Choquequirao Wasi - The city in the skies, Choquequirao, awaits exploration and discovery. After a hearty pre-dawn breakfast, the journey to this ancient Inca citadel begins. A 1.5-hour walk (approximately 4.5 km) leads to this remarkable archaeological site. The day will be spent exploring its highlights: the llama terraces, the central square (3,068 m), the Hanan sector (3,136 m), and more. Some unexcavated remains, still covered by vegetation, will also be visible. A country lunch with a 360-degree view, blending culture and nature, will be enjoyed here.
Chiquisca - From Marampata, the descent continues along a similarly rocky path with a steep slope towards Santa Rosa, where lush nature and tranquility provide a reward after the day’s efforts. Capuliyoc - The journey offers appreciation of the forests at varying altitudes, accompanied by vast mountain views, gradually reaching the Capuliyoc viewpoint.
