• Invergordon - Guests will be warmly welcomed at the shuttle bus stop (Stop 1) at Invergordon Cruise Port, ready to embark on a day of exploring the stunning Scottish Highlands. A female guide, easily recognizable in blue tartan trousers, will greet you with a sign displaying your name.
• Culloden Battlefield - The first destination is Culloden Battlefield. Here, visitors will walk the grounds while learning about the tragic events of April 16, 1746. The impact of this battle is still felt in the Highlands, and the guide will passionately explain its lasting cultural effects. You’ll be taken to a viewpoint to see where the troops once stood before the Jacobites were defeated. The tour includes the makeshift hospital cottage, grave markers, and other significant sites, with free time to soak in the atmosphere. Restrooms are available for convenience.
• Clava Cairns - Next, explore the ancient burial site of Clava Cairns. Admire these Bronze Age cairns and touch the standing stones as the guide shares insights into their construction 4,000 years ago. Discover how the Victorians romanticized and altered Clava’s landscape, and imagine its appearance in 2000 BC. Walk in the footsteps of ancient Scottish cultures and unravel the mysteries they left behind.
• Cawdor Castle - The final morning stop is the legendary 14th-century Cawdor Castle, with admission included in the tour price. Enjoy a self-guided audio tour, available in multiple languages, to explore the castle’s beautifully furnished rooms, antiques, tapestries, and rich history, as well as its stunning grounds with formal gardens and serene woodlands. Cawdor Castle, still a lived-in Highland home, offers a captivating blend of history, legend, and natural beauty, providing an unforgettable glimpse into Scotland’s heritage.
• Inverness - The local tour guide will lead a brief walking tour around the city center of Inverness (or Inversnecky, as locals call it), highlighting historical sites, architecture, and lesser-known gems and stories known only to locals. Visit the oldest pub, see where Jacobite soldiers were executed post-Battle of Culloden, and enjoy a view of the newly renovated castle. Guests will have free time to enjoy coffee or lunch at a venue of their choice, with excellent recommendations from the guide. There is no rush during this stop, allowing ample time to truly experience the city.
• Loch Ness - The tour continues to the East Coast of Loch Ness, stopping at the breathtaking Dores Beach, where guests can get close to Loch Ness and enjoy one of its most beautiful views. With luck, you might even spot the famous Loch Ness Monster! Learn about the guide’s mother’s video of what she believes to be the Loch Ness Monster and view the viral footage to form your own opinion. Meet the “Loch Ness Monster Hunter,” who has resided on the beach since the early ‘90s. Enjoy a Gaelic toast with the group and guide before returning to Invergordon and the cruise.
