Memorable Day in Normandy - We arrived on the Viking Jupiter. They offered a Normandy tour but we decided to splurge and get the private tour instead. There we six of us and the money spent was well worth it. Our driver was right on time, very friendly and knowledgeable. We picked up our guide near our first destination of Pointe Du Hoc. He was just great. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I am slowed down by bad knees and our guide went out of his way to make sure I was able to keep up and stay involved along the way. I really appreciated his effort. He also made arrangements for us to stop in at a nice restaurant fora french lunch and guided us through the menu selections , ordering and payment at the end which was not only very helpful but it saved us more time for our tour visits. While at the American Cemetery, we saw the Viking tour unloading their 50-some passengers off of the bus. We were all in agreement that booking the Viator tour was a smart decision. One suggestion, it yeah you almost have to cause you get once you’re out there you’re stuck, but the wind supposed to be yesterday. We were out there quite a hawk and it was cold and windy but then by the time we got to Omaha Beach and then the sun came out. It was just beautiful how we started when the driver showed up. We started start raining on us. It’s gonna be rain all day walking stick. I took the Viking umbrella and use that as that way I was covered either waywould have been to to use the VOX system while walking around. Especially at the American cemetery where they ask you to keep your voices down a bit. Highly recommend this tour.

Not to miss. - Sunny put together a great tour of Normandy and articulated the History of WWII with the backdrop of how the architecture played a role in the war. She was very good.

Great tour worth every penny - Our driver Thierry picked us up on time and took us to meet with our tour Guide. Anne Sophie was our tour guide and after talking to us customized a tour that would take us to see everything we wanted. She was very knowledgeable and we left feeling that our day was well spent learning about Normandy in a way we didn’t before. Thierry was a great driver and even though he didn’t speak English we managed to communicate quite well.

Normandy beaches - Both our driver and guide were great. When the French speaking driver met us, it would have been nice to know that we were also meeting an English speaking guide. That may be something that could have been mentioned in the trip details.

Excellent trip to British D-Day beaches and surrounding historic attractions from Le Havre - We were collected from our cruise ship at Le Havre by Thibeau, who then drove us to the Merville Battery, Pegasus Bridge and both the English D-Day beaches, with us spending time at each and within The British Normandy Memorial. At the suggestion of Thibeau we went for lunch in Bayeux, what a beautiful city. The cathedral, the history and of course the tapestry is there too, although we didn’t feel we had enough time to do that justice. We had lunch and went to the cathedral and Thibeau kindly escorted us for a brief walking tour, The English D-Day beaches/attractions aren’t as far from Le Harve as the American ones, so the stress is reduced when you have to get back to the ship. We were out from 8.30 and got back just before 5. With hindsight, a quick view of the tapestry could have been done too and still got back in time. Will just have to go again!

Visitor did NOT give us what we paid for. - I asked for a driver/ guide who could discuss the History of the area and of the Normandy invasion with us. Our driver was a nice young man but he did not say much at all. We paid a lot of money for this personal driving tour and we did not get what we requested of Viator nor what we expected. We had requested a driver who knew the History and we did not get what we wanted. James Resnick
