Half Day Guided Tour of Durham - Wonderful half day tour of Durham with Alex. Started off near the train station which has a lovely view of the city and worked our way into and through the town. Alex was a great source of information about the area and the city itself including the cathedral.

Another fantastic day on tour with Alex! - We absolutely loved Durham. From the minute we got off the train, Alex pointed out interesting sites and gave us all of the history. We enjoyed every moment of it. The cathedral was incredible. Highly recommended.

Faboulous handicapped adapted tour of Durham! - I do extensive research on finding the right guide as we travel as I rely on a mobility scooter to get around. This can be quite a problem in many historical cities that are just not handicap accessible. I corresponded with quite a few different tour companies for our visit to Durham. I am so glad we booked a private tour with Alex's Iles Tours. Alex met us in the lobby of our hotel for our half day tour of the city and off we went. He was exceptional at explaining the importance of Durham and it's place in Britain's story. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about history. I had no problems as we made our way through the city to visit it's jewel, the Cathedral, with Alex teaching us about the city as we went. Once inside, he had planned the visit so I was able to use ramps to see all parts of the magnificent testament to faith. We then visited the Open Treasure exhibit within the Cathedral with it's outstanding collection of artifacts with Alex explaining their importance. The exhibit is very accessible with elevators available. We had a wonderful day with Alex. He is just a lovely man. I wish we had booked more tours with him as he covers much of the North not just Durham and Newcastle.
