Mostly Good with a Serious Hiccup - We did a two component tour: Ireland for a week followed by Scotland for 5 days. We loved the Irish and Scottish chauffeurs that we had--they were literally fantastic and became not just guides and drivers but good friends. We booked 5 star hotels and those in Ireland were terrific. As were the tour venues and stops in between. Absolutely excellent. However, when we arrived in Scotland, out hotels were, at best 4 star. We expressed our discontent with our accommodations to the tour company and, unfortunately, had to take matters into our own hands and rebook to the desired level of hotels we had originally expected. There was considerable back and forth with the tour company who ultimately refunded some of the additional costs we incurred and I'll give them credit for that. Here is my advice if using Irish Luxury Tours: be absolutely precise in what you want in the way of hotels. And, before you commit to payment, examine the proposed accomodations on the website to ensure you are getting what you want. After the fact, it's not so easy to make changes. I would use IRT for Ireland, not so much for Scotland. Five Stars for Ireland. Three for Scotland. Four overall. The drivers/tour guides were 10 stars!
