Well worth a visit - Interesting buildings with picturesque grounds. Great tour guide who was a qualified teacher and a local He provided some great insights into the lives of those who were incarcerated and also those who worked in the prison. There were plenty of educational aids throughout the main building. Reasonably priced with concessios for students and seniors.

Interesting for children - We had both teenagers and young children in our group. All of them enjoyed completing the quiz as they went around. The prison tells its story through the lives of prisoners some who were children.

Very CUSH jail... - We had a very nice time and our guide was very informative and answered all of our questions. The grounds were beautiful and the jail itself was pretty cush for jail. The jail was mostly for petty crimes, no murders or robberies. There was an execution there for a person that either talked back or just didn't comply with what the guards told them to do. I don't think I would have been alive. If I lived in that time, I'm very opinionated. Overall, it was a very nice experience.

Novel experience - An interesting bit of history and a lovely venue for a (bring your own) picnic. There is also a good exhibit on the history of radio.

Informative visit with absolutely outstanding staff - A brilliant and well preserved piece of history, it was interesting the whole way through. I paid two extra euros for the audio-guide which was well worth it. The staff were friendly and helpful and they went above and beyond. One of the employees was doing a tour for a group of blind/partially-sighted people and she was so good to them, right up to helping them out the door of the gaol and down the steps to the street. A real example of the brilliant Corkonian people.

Great day out - We really enjoyed our visit to the gaol. We used the audio guide which was great. Easy to use and clear. The kids aged 11 and 16 both found it interesting too and the building itself is absolutely beautiful. We would absolutely recommend this for any age of visitor.

Very interesting visit. - Not the easiest place to get to. A long walk from the City centre and as far as I know, the only bus that stops outside is the Hop on/Hop off bus. However it's well worth making the effort to visit. The Gaol really gives an impression of what it must have been like for the prisoners and the included audio guide gives loads of information which adds to the experience. There is also an interesting audio/visual presentation which tells some of the stories of the Gaol's troubled past. It takes around an hour or so to go around the Gaol, and is well worth a visit.

Interesting old prison - This was an interesting old prison and they did not mess around with the sentences that they handed out in the 1800s into the early 1900s! I had the audio guide and it was two euro extra. So that was worth it.

Interesting - Gives you a detailed glimpse into jails of the past. It was informative and the grounds are well kept but the tour is a little short. Overall, Im glad I went
