Highlights
  • Corcovado - Christ the Redeemer - We visit to Corcovado Mountain and the Christ the Redeemer statue going through the Paineiras route. The 20-minute drive to the base of the statue takes you through the Tijuca Forest and gives you a preview of the landscapes ahead. The statue stands 710 meters tall and from this vantage point, you’ll have sweeping views of the city.
  • Sugarloaf Mountain - The cable car ride to the top of the mountain is done in 2 stages: begin at the boarding station to Urca Mountain (224 meters) and then from Urca Mountain to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain (395 meters).
  • Morro da Urca - The first step to reach the Sugarloaf.
  • Praia Vermelha - Located between the Sugarloaf Mountain and the Urca Mountain, the Praia Vermelha is a charming place.
  • Escadaria Selaron - Located in Santa Teresa, the Selarón Steps are famous for its bright and colourfull tiles.
  • The Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Sebastian - The modern archtecture is very different from the traditional cathedrals we see out there. Enjoy the beautiful stained glasses and try to guess the biblical passages they got their inspiration from.
  • Maracana - Football - or soccer, if you prefer - is part of the Brazilian life. We love to watch the games and share experiences with complete strangers that get together for one purpose: support their team on the field. The Maracanã Stadium is considered our temple and a sacred place for those who enjoy a great game. We can take pictures outside of the Stadium and share stories about our favorite matches.
  • Sambodromo da Marques de Sapucai - See the Carnival temple, the place where the magic happens. The Sambadrome opens only during carnival time.

Reference - Monica Bertazzolo was an amazing Guide. Very friendly and concerned. The departure through the most touristic places of Rio de Janeiro was very dynamic. I would recommend it if or if.

Great for travelers with limited time - The tour hit the highlights with nice pacing for a chock-full day. The only thing I‘a change would be to add (or at least drive by) some of the historic colonial sites. Tour guide and driver were both wonderful.

Sugarloaf, Surprise & Sunset - I got left behind by the van at Sugarloaf because the line for the cable car was incredibly long. Despite the unsettling experience, watching the sunset from the mountain turned out to be my most memorable moment of the tour. The sunset was breathtakingly beautiful. A heads-up about the potential wait times to descend the mountain would have been helpful. As a solo female traveler, it was a bit daunting to find my own way back to the hotel.

taste little by little - We were passed to look in a van that is not suitable for tourism, since the last row of seats does not have windows and are higher than the rest, that is to say that to see you had to fold whole, and nothing was appreciated. Secondly the only thing you really visit is the Christ and the sugar bread and the cathedral everything else is a quick pass. and thirdly our Guide, while friendly (leandro) gave us very little information about everything, very few stories, very few anecdotes, very little data about everything

Not worth money or time - Our guide did not speak Spanish or English, although he tried. He provided very little information on the city and sites even in Portuguese. He had trouble with his phone when scanning codes to enter the cable card and attractions and we lost a lot of time since part of the group had to enter through another entrance. Terrible experience. We could have taken an Uber and gone on our own.
