Burle Marx, a multifaceted artist, had a passion for collecting plants and various art and design pieces, with his collection of Brazilian folk art being especially noteworthy. These are displayed at the site surrounding an enchanting 17th-century church that he restored. A visit to the Burle Marx Site presents a unique and moving opportunity to increase one’s understanding of the importance of conserving nature while admiring one of the world’s most significant collections of tropical plants. Our journey then continues to Pedra de Guaratiba with its vibrant beaches. The French chose this location as a settlement in their bid to conquer Rio de Janeiro in the 16th century, and from here, they advanced towards the beaches of Guanabara Bay.
