Admirers of The Quiet Man have the opportunity to put on these costumes for picture sessions. The Quiet Man Museum showcases Father Lonergan’s original fishing rod and Michaeleen Og’s horse Napoleon’s authentic harness, as well as a first print of Maurice Walsh’s anthology of short stories, Green Rushes, which served as the basis for The Quiet Man script.
The biggest collection of Irish newspaper articles from the time of the movie’s filming is also housed in the museum, collected extensively from microfiche files at local libraries. This offers enthusiasts a glimpse into what it was like when Hollywood took over the village of Cong in 1951.
