The surrounding park is remarkable for its ancient trees, including a massive plane tree and a rare cedar of Lebanon.

You will sail on Lake Como aboard the famous Mas 28. In the years preceding the outbreak of the “Great War”, the Italian Royal Navy formed a group of special troops equipped with torpedo bombers: the so-called MAS. The acronym MAS stands for armed torpedo motorboat. In fact, these small motor boats, no longer than 10 metres, were equipped with two torpedoes which were launched against the large ships by exploiting surprise and speed. The MAS could even reach 40 knots and like a pack of wolves they sailed at night to the ports and bays where the enemy warships were anchored, to then exploit the surprise effect and attack with the favor of light. Among the famous names that this elite corps could count was that of the poet Grabiele D’Annunzio, who was a member of the crew of the three MAS that carried out the Hoax of Buccari.
