Wonderful Experience From Beginning to End - Where do I even begin? Andres is a treasure of Uruguay. This was actually our second tour with him during the week we spent in the country (1st time visitors), and he took such good care of us. Andres picked us up from our hotel in Montevideo and took us on the 2 hour ride to Colonia and back. Aside from the general things that you hope for in a day trip (punctuality, careful driving, historical knowledge of the surroundings), Andres was also very warm and friendly, and he was so attentive to all our needs. Plus, we had great conversations. You can tell that he loves his country and loves what he does, and he takes tremendous pride in both. Additionally, I must mention Karen, who handled the walking tour while we were in Colonia del Sacramento. She was a wonderful guide with a great depth of knowledge and a warm personality. Our time with her was relaxed, enjoyable, and very enlightening! Lastly, I want to give extra thanks to Andres for snagging us a last-minute reservation at El Tio for the same evening as our tour, which was also the last night of our trip as well as Thanksgiving in the US. He personally called the restaurant owner and was able to arrange for us to get the only remaining spot available that night. And we're so happy that he did! The dining experience at El Tio was magnificent, and it was a great way to wrap up our stay. Thank you, Andres, for your knowledge, the unexpected lovely gifts, your thoughtfulness, and your kind heart. Thanks to you, we love Uruguay that much more.

Fantastic day in Colonia del Sacramento - A wonderful day trip to this UNESCO world heritage site. Andrês picked us up on time and we travelled in style whilst viewing some of the beautiful countryside. Karin our guide was very informative and had great knowledge of the town and it's history being a local of many years. We had a lovely lunch in the old square and Andres took us to a great museum and farm on the way back. Overall a great experience and highly recommended, thanks guys

A Great Tour of a Charming Town! - Colonia del Sacramento is a must see! Andres was very communicative in advance of the trip and extremely accommodating with a last minute booking. He outline what we would do on the our, but left plenty of room for my input. Upon arrival in Colonia, Andres introduced me to a local guide partner to do a walking tour of town. The local guide was very knowledgeable and very passionate about her town and gave a very enjoyable tour. Andres made additional recommendations about what to see and do in town and on the ride back to Montevideo. Highly recommend Andres and his local partners!

A wonderful sunny day in UNESCO’s Colonia, courtesy of Blanco Tours - We booked the full day Colonia day trip from Montevideo provided by Blanco Tours and we had such a memorable and delightful experience. Sure, the drive to Colonia from Montevideo took more than two hours each way but we used parts of those to nod off while in the capable hands of the driver Daniel, especially on the drive going back to Asuncion, which was already evening. Our guide was Mauro, a very considerate, articulate, and jolly fellow who spoke very good English and who actually spent his high school years in Colonia – his mother was assigned there, which is why he was very familiar with the place. Mauro regaled us with lots of stories – of Uruguay, Montevideo, including his own personal background. After walking around for more than two hours, he gave us an additional 1.5 hours to have late lunch and to cover what we might have missed or wished to see again. The old fort town of Colonia del Sacramento with its cobblestone streets is truly a national Uruguayan gem and so worthy of being a UNESCO World Heritage site. The walk along the river (Rio dela Plata) was unique and the walk along the wharf, despite the cold weather and strong winds is not to be missed. We also checked out the ruins of the viceroy’s house, Suspiros Street, Plaza de Armas, the convent ruins, lighthouse, and the basilica. Colonia has more than its share of restaurants and souvenir shops – hard to pass by without stopping for food or checking out the curios. All in all, it was really wonderful Sunday to spend four hours. There were so many visitors – we learned that aside from locals, there were many Agentinians (‘Porteños’, who simply took a ferry from Buenos Aires) and Brazilians in the weekend crowds. We thought we were done but Mauro stopped at the Read de San Carlos, Colonia’s bullring that only operated for two years! It was another architectural gem and we joined a Spanish-language tour of the facility (good thing Mauro was there to translate). Mauro was also kind enough to take pictures of us when requested. We also passed by a cheese shop, one of Mauro’s favorites, where both he and us got some cheeses. There was also the stop at the Arenas pencil museum – yes, the guy collected pencils (actually, also keychains, ashtrays, perfume bottles, turn-of-the century flat irons and cameras, etc.) and he’s in the Guiness book of world records for his hundreds of thousands of unique pencils – and the entire collection was on display in his ranch. What a very memorable day trip experience, helped in no small part by our great tour guide Mauro. The car we used was pretty tight, we would have appreciated a roomier one. Still, it was comfortable enough.

A relaxed way to see Colonia! - I used this tour company for most of my stay in MVD and the service was perfect. From picking me up after the flight in from Colombia to a detailed tour of MVD with great historical facts and food recommendations, a private trip to Colonia, as well as a transfer and tour from MVD to PDE. 5 star service through and through. Highly recommend. FYI - Colonia is a small pueblo so using the private tour service gets you there without a mass of people for a much more personalized (and relaxed!) experience. Plan to have lunch along the water after the tour!
