• Galle Face Green - Galle Face Green is a 5-hectare (12-acre) oceanfront urban park situated in the center of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Established in 1859 by Governor Sir Henry George Ward, it initially served as a horse racing venue and has since become a beloved recreational area for families, picnickers, and sports enthusiasts. The park boasts lush greenery, walking paths, and breathtaking ocean views, making it a popular spot for relaxation and social gatherings. • Old Parliament Building - The Old Parliament House, initially known as the Provisional Parliament House, was officially inaugurated on May 9, 1927. It was designed to house the federal government following the relocation of Parliament from Melbourne to Canberra. Although intended as a temporary solution until a more permanent structure could be built, it remained in use for over six decades, witnessing significant events in Australian history, including the declaration of war against Japan in 1941 and the dismissal of Prime Minister Gough Whitlam in 1975.

• Colombo Lighthouse - The current 29-meter-high (95 ft) lighthouse was constructed in 1952 after the Old Colombo Lighthouse was deactivated due to its light being obscured by nearby buildings as part of the Colombo Harbor Expansion project. It was inaugurated by Rt Hon D. S. Senanayake, the first prime minister of Ceylon. Built on a concrete base 12 m (39 ft) high, it features four lion statues at its base.

Due to the panoramic view of the Indian Ocean it offered, it became a city landmark. With the escalation of the Sri Lankan Civil War, public access to the site was restricted. This was due to its location in a high-security zone as it is across the street from the Naval Headquarters and in close proximity to the Port of Colombo.

• Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct - The Old Colombo Dutch Hospital, known as The Dutch Hospital, is considered the oldest building in the Colombo Fort area, dating back to the Dutch colonial era in Sri Lanka. It is now a heritage building and a shopping and dining precinct.
• Colombo Fort Clock Tower - The Old Colombo Lighthouse, or Colombo Fort Clock Tower, is a clock tower that once served as a lighthouse in Colombo. Although the lighthouse is no longer operational, the tower remains and functions as a clock tower. It is located at the junction of Chatham Street and Janadhipathi Mawatha (formerly Queens Road) in Colombo Fort.
• Colombo Fort - The Old Colombo Fort, once a fortified town, has transformed into a bustling commercial district. While the original fortifications no longer stand, remnants of its colonial architecture and heritage are still visible. The area is home to the Colombo Stock Exchange, the Bank of Ceylon headquarters, and the General Post Office. The Dutch Period Museum and the Wolfendhal Church are notable historical sites within the Fort area. The Fort’s layout and the presence of the Clock Tower, a British colonial landmark, provide a glimpse into the area’s rich history. Visitors can explore the Old Dutch Hospital, a trendy shopping and dining precinct, and the General Post Office, which houses the Colombo Stock Exchange. The area is a testament to Sri Lanka’s colonial past and its evolution into a modern commercial hub.
• Pettah - The entrance to the Pettah Market is formally marked by a tall monument in the center of a roundabout, known as the Khan Clock Tower, built by the family of Framjee Bhickajee Khan, an eminent Parsi family from Bombay who had substantial business interests in the country and also owned the Colombo Oil Mills.
• Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque - Construction of the Jami-Ul-Alfar Mosque began in 1908 and was completed in 1909. The mosque was commissioned by the local Indian Muslim community, based in Pettah, to fulfill their required five-times-daily prayer and Jummah on Fridays. The mosque’s designer and builder was Habibu Lebbe Saibu Lebbe (an unlettered architect), and it was based on details/images of Indo-Saracenic structures provided by South Indian traders, who commissioned him. It is a hybrid style of architecture, drawing elements from native Indo-Islamic and Indian architecture, and combining them with the Gothic revival and Neo-classical styles. Originally, it had the capacity for 1,500 worshippers, although at the time only around 500 were attending prayers.
• Lotus Tower - The Lotus Tower (Sinhala: නෙළුම් කුළුණ, romanized: Nelum Kuluna; Tamil: தாமரைக் கோபுரம், romanized: Tāmaraik Kōpuram), also known as the Colombo Lotus Tower, stands at a height of 351.5 meters (1,153 feet) in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It has become a symbolic landmark for the country. As of 2019, the tower is the tallest self-supported structure in South Asia and the second tallest overall, behind the guy-wire-supported INS Kattabomman antenna tower in India. It ranks as the 11th tallest tower in Asia and the 19th tallest tower in the world. Initially, the tower was proposed to be built in Peliyagoda, but the Government of Sri Lanka later decided to change the location. The lotus-shaped structure serves various purposes, including communication and observation, as well as leisure facilities. The estimated cost of construction was approximately US$113 million.
• Temple of Sri Kailawasanathan Swami Devasthanam Kovil - The Sri Kailawasanatan Swami Temple, also known as the Captain’s Garden Hindu Temple, is a hidden gem in Colombo, Sri Lanka. This ancient Hindu temple, built during the Portuguese era, is the oldest in Colombo and an important heritage site. It is dedicated to the Hindu gods Shiva and Ganesha and is known for its colorful towers, intricate carvings, and vibrant paintings. The temple’s architecture is a blend of South Indian and Portuguese styles, making it a unique and visually stunning attraction. Visitors can explore the temple’s inner sanctum, which features a main tower adorned with brightly-colored figures and gods, and the inner roof murals, which are adorned with ornate and intricate stone masterpieces. The temple is a peaceful oasis in the busy city, offering a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka.
• Viharamahadevi Park - Viharamahadevi Park (Sinhala: විහාරමහාදේවී උද්‍යානය; formerly Victoria Park, Sinhala: වික්ටෝරියා පාක්) is a public park located in Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo, situated in front of the colonial-era Town Hall in Sri Lanka. It was built by the British colonial administration and is the oldest and largest park in Colombo. The park was originally named “Victoria Park” after Queen Victoria but was renamed after Queen Viharamahadevi, the mother of King Dutugamunu, on July 18, 1958.

During World War II, it was occupied by the British Army with the Australian 17th Brigade based at Victoria Park. After the war, the park was restored and opened to the public in 1951.

There used to be a cricket ground in the park, which was used for first-class cricket between 1927 and 1995. Ceylon played against a touring English team there in 1927 and against an Australian team in 1935.
