As we journey through Cartagena’s scenic cityscape, we’ll eventually join the Vía al Mar, a major roadway linking Cartagena de Indias with Barranquilla. Our route will take us through the rural locality of Santa Catalina in Bolívar, where we’ll have the opportunity to observe the unique geological formation of the mud volcano and the surrounding Cienaga del Totumo wetlands.

Must-try fountain of youth tour - My guides are Daniel and Jesus. The entire tour is very smooth and well-organized. They picked me up at the hotel and other participants at their locations, and explained the tour details and what to pay attention to on the way to the mud volcano. The mud volcano is absolutely amazing, it's an interesting feeling not being able to touch the ground and floating in it. My skin definitely feels refreshed after the mud bath, and it's so much fun.

An Awesome Experience - I had a fantastic time. The tour guide Milton was exceptional at making sure we understood all parts of the experience. I would like to mention, Milton bi-lingual skills are the best I have experienced in Cartagena. Because of his ability to successfully communicate with everyone he made the tour fun relaxing and enjoyable. I rate my tour service excellent 👌

Great experience! - Really enjoyed this excursion. Everyone involved was very nice and helpful. Nicher was our guide and explained a lot of things and also helped us figure out the tips for everyone. Diego and Asia helped with booking and helped me find the meeting point for the excursion. Overall you should do this trip. I also liked how they had a 8am time and 1pm time for this excursion.

BOOK!!!! - This was an amazing experience that was impeccably planned. There are two time slots available so you can go morning or afternoon (I went afternoon). We were not harassed for tips, they arrange for one person to collect tips. Our pictures were BEAUTIFUL, definitely book this tour!!

It's very worth it, no one harasses you for tips here. - I saw a lot of reviews that the locals at the volcano were very harassing asking for tips. Well here on this tour I think they have already agreed everything with the locals because the experience was great, no one is going to harass you. At the end someone comes up to collect a tip and you give 5-10 dollars and that's it.
It is very worth going, I think everyone describes it, I even stayed an extra day in the city to be able to go. Unique feeling. Shrek's life is envious.
When you arrive, people will come to take care of you and you give them your cell phone for photos, learn their name so that when you are in the mud you can call them and they will take more photos or videos to your liking.
The ones that rinse you do it very well, even if you sink into the water and give them your swimsuit and they leave it perfectly clean. The temperature is delicious. I stayed there for a while in the lagoon.
Everything was excellently well organized. I went on a Friday morning and I practically stood in line for 5 minutes to enter the mud.
The only thing is that when you buy, you don't get a notice or anything from the operator and it seems to be fake. I spoke by phone the day before and they told me that they would notify me until the evening. I was worried that they would cancel but what I think they do is the people's collection route and that's why they tell you until the evening what time they come for you. In any case, better send them a WhatsApp a day before, they never responded to me on Tripadvisor but on WhatsApp everything is fine.

Totumo - I had a great time on this trip. Jose was easy to speak with and communicated well via messaging after the trip was booked. I was a little skeptical after reading other reviews from other companies but this company exceeded my expectations. The people at the volcano are expecting tips but this company's process made it less stressful by just making the tip go to one person and they split it.

Great volcano tour! - This was a great tour! Jose was phenomenal! He was very knowledgeable and kind. We were not harassed for tips as they allowed one person to collect tips for everyone. The authentic snack and cold beverage was very good too! Our tour was in the afternoon so there was no line and were able to spend a good amount of time in the volcano. I highly recommend using this company for your volcano tour!

Mud volcano half-day tour: The itinerary covers hotel pickup->Mud volcano bath->Cleaning of volcanic mud->Colombian snacks->Back to the hotel, the total travel time is about four hours - Our hotel was far away from the city, but the service staff of Nexxt Tours still helped us arrange hotel pick-up and drop-off, which other companies could not do, and the price was the same as other companies without any additional charges.

DON'T HIRE NO!!! THE WORST COMPANY IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!! -
DO NOT CONTRACT WITH NEXT TOURS! THEY ARE SCAMMERS! I have traveled all over the world on hundreds of excursions and nothing like this has ever happened to me! They threw my 2-day trip to Cartagena in the trash, the first day I booked the tour to the 5 islands with them and they kept me waiting for 2 hours because their car had broken down at the end of the excursion, but the best thing is It was the next day's excursion with them, 10 minutes from reaching the Totumo volcano their car broke down again and after 2 hours waiting in the middle of a road with incredible heat they did not return to Caeragena, in short I did not do the excursion and I lost a total of 7 hours of my time and the money from another excursion that I had paid for that I didn't do either because of them! They refunded me the money for the excursion that I didn't take with them, but who will refund me for all the lost time and all the bad things that I and my wife had? Really, my trip to Cartagena has been the worst of my life and very VERYYYY frustrating because of this company, my vacation was in the trash. I wish all the evil in this world to those in charge of this company, the guides are not to blame for this company be the worst in the world only those in charge!!!! I hope they go bankrupt soon and close so as not to hurt more people that will surely happen.
