From Panama City to Embera Drua

Chagres National Park - The journey begins at 8:00 am from Panama City, heading towards Puerto Corotu on the Chagres River. Travelers will embark on a dugout canoe, known as a piragua, to reach the village of Embera Drua. The adventure kicks off with a cooking class, where participants will learn to prepare traditional Embera dishes using ingredients sourced from the rainforest.
After the cooking class, there will be an hour to unwind in the village before heading further up the river to learn traditional spear fishing techniques. In the evening, enjoy a meal prepared by the Embera. The first night will be spent in a traditional village house.

Embera Drua

Chagres National Park - The day begins with a freshly prepared breakfast by the Embera. After breakfast, there is an option to relax by the river or in the village for an hour. Throughout the morning and afternoon, various activities are planned, including learning to carve weapons for a simulated hunt in the rainforest using wooden targets on the ground and trees. Participants will also practice fire making, shelter building, canoe navigation, and learn about medicinal plants.
In the mid-afternoon, depart the village with Embera guides for a trek deep into the jungle, where the night will be spent.

Embera Drua to Panama City

Chagres National Park - The final day in the jungle begins with a freshly prepared breakfast at the campsite (prepared by the participants), followed by a hike back to the village. The remainder of the day can be spent relaxing in the village, swimming in the river, or engaging with the hosts. In the afternoon, return to Puerto Corotu by canoe, where a bus will transport everyone back to Panama City.

In order to be close to the turtle nesting areas we will be staying is very rustic accommodations with no electricity and basic comforts. There are solar panels for basic things like charging phones and light bulbs, but there is no air conditioning, televisions, or Wi-Fi.
