Santa Ana Volcano - After departing from the hotel, the journey will take us west to a Salvadoran volcano complex, approximately 1.5 hours from San Salvador. Along the way, travelers will enjoy stunning views of the Santa Ana, Cerro Verde, and Izalco volcanoes. The hike to the Santa Ana volcano takes about 2 hours to reach the summit and another 2 hours to descend, offering breathtaking landscapes throughout. Despite being the tallest, it is accessible to people of all ages. The volcano last erupted in 2005, leaving the summit without vegetation.
Upon reaching the top, visitors can admire the beautiful turquoise lagoon boiling inside the crater and enjoy an almost 360° view of the Salvadoran landscape.
Next, the tour will proceed to Lake Coatepeque, renowned as the most beautiful lake in El Salvador. Lunch will be served here, and there will be an opportunity to swim in the lake’s refreshing waters. After the visit to Lake Coatepeque, the return journey to the hotel will commence.

Awesome place - It was Saturday, November 29. The views were spectacular and the day was magnificent. We were able to enjoy a beautiful ascent of the volcano and a paradise top where we took a few photos to be able to boast of such beauty.
The best, without a doubt, HERBERT Burgos, our guide. It was lovely and superprofessional. It is nice to go to a place and learn about places, people, customs... You can tell he enjoys what he does and loves his job. It was a pleasure to match him and he helped us a lot in our adventure to the volcano and provided us with a lot of information about El Salvador. Surely, Herbert, you're welcome if you're traveling in Spain.

Amazing hike up Santa Ana Volcano! - We had an amazing experience on this trip to Santa Ana Volcano! It took about 1.5 hours to drive to the starting point of the hike, about 2 hours to hike up hill to the top of the volcano and the overlook into the lake in the middle, and then 1.5 hours to hike back down. On the drive there, we stopped for snacks/breakfast, and on the way back, we stopped at a restaurant for lunch with a great overlook of Lake Coatepeque (just to view the lake, not to swim). There were lots of food options on the menu to choose from. The hike was really cool, with awesome views along the way and it was not too strenuous since we took breaks along the way. Diego, our guide, was also amazing in answering questions, sharing history, taking photos, and making the trip such a great experience!

Santa Ana overturned - The experience was wonderful, the spectacular day of climbing the Volcano but we could not reach the crater due to a little wind. Our guide Herber Burgos was the best.

Memorable - We had the BEST experience hiking the Santa Ana volcano with Osmaro. I’m postpartum and was nervous about doing such a challenging hike, but he was so patient and encouraging the entire time. He checked in to make sure we were okay, and he helped so much with our kids. Our two year old daughter absolutely loved him!
He shared so much information about El Salvador, gave amazing recommendations, and honestly made us feel like we were exploring with a friend. We all connected with him so well, and he truly made the whole day worth it. If you’re looking for a guide who is knowledgeable, kind, and great with families book with Osmaro. Highly recommend! 💛🌋✨

Fun and informative hike! - Our guide Osmaro was very fun, yet very informed, a fountain of information. The home was fantastic and not too hard. And they pick you up from your hotel!
We skipped the lake part as we ended up at a hotel there.
Highly recommend this tour.

Incredible Santa Ana Volcano Hike with Osmaro – The Best Guide We’ve Had Anywhere! - We’ve traveled all around the world and done hikes on every continent, but our experience hiking the Santa Ana volcano with Osmaro was truly something special. He is hands down the best tour guide we’ve ever had.
From the moment we met him, Osmaro made us feel like part of his family. His passion for El Salvador, deep knowledge of the region, and warm, welcoming personality made the hike not just an adventure, but an unforgettable cultural experience. He shared so much history, local insight, and even personal stories that made the journey meaningful on so many levels.
The hike itself was stunning — incredible views, manageable pace, and plenty of time to enjoy the breathtaking crater at the top. But what really made the day unforgettable was Osmaro. Must do in El Salvador!! - Strongly recommend this well organised adventure in El Salvador (esp solo travellers like me). Thanks to our very knowledgeable and experienced guide Osmaro who planned for the hike early and hence we were able to escape the rain just in time and had a wonderful view at the top. The tour was well balanced to match schedule with the needs of the group and also accommodated extra stops not part of the itinerary. Plus the delicious lunch at Lake Coatepaque with an amazing view (one of the best in El Salvador) is a must do. Thanks a lot Eco Tours Petate!

Incredible Santa Ana Tour - We took the Santa Ana volcano tour with Osmaro. He was an incredible guide that shared lots of information on El Salvador and its history. He also went out of his way to provide a full experience and stopped several times on request to try local fruits, candies and foods. We were so happy with this tour that we booked another one with him for the following day. 10/10 recommend this tour for the very cool volcano and full local experience with Osmaro.
