Ghastly murders occurred numerous times at a guesthouse located on this path, leading to a proliferation of frightful yarns, most of them likely exaggerated… According to one account, an inn known as the Halfway House existed here, managed by a sibling pair during the 1790s. They would welcome solitary wanderers, subsequently killing them (naturally, when the clock struck midnight) and eliminating their bodies in the neighboring bog lakes while seizing their possessions. The ghosts believed to haunt this isolated road segment are supposedly those of the deceased travellers who fell prey to the macabre siblings and had their remains discarded in the barren bog - the Red-Haired Girl at the Inn’s narrative is a timeless piece of scary folklore….
