- Trevi Fountain - Designed by Italian architect Nicola Salvi in 1732 and completed by Giuseppe Pannini and others, the Trevi Fountain is the largest Baroque fountain in Rome, standing 26.3 meters (86 ft) high and 49.15 meters (161.3 ft) wide. It is one of the world’s most famous fountains, featured in films such as Roman Holiday, Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita, Three Coins in the Fountain, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, and Sabrina Goes to Rome.
- Spanish Steps - Piazza di Spagna, located at the base of the Spanish Steps, is one of Rome’s most renowned squares. It is named after the Palazzo di Spagna, the seat of the Spanish Embassy to the Holy See. Nearby is the notable Column of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

- Roman Forum - For centuries, the Forum was the heart of daily life in ancient Rome.
- Circus Maximus - The Circus Maximus, meaning greatest or largest circus in Latin, is an ancient Roman chariot-racing stadium and mass entertainment venue, now a public park.
- Piazza Venezia / Ancient City - Piazza Venezia is Rome’s central hub, where several major roads intersect, including the Via dei Fori Imperiali and the Via del Corso. Named after the Palazzo Venezia, built by a Venetian Cardinal next to the church of Saint Mark, the patron saint of Venice, it once served as the Republic of Venice’s embassy in Rome. One side of the Piazza houses Italy’s Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Altare della Patria, part of the Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II, Italy’s first king. The square is at the foot of the Capitoline Hill and adjacent to Trajan’s Forum. The Via di Fori Imperiali begins here, leading past the Roman Forum to the Colosseum.
- Piazza Navona - Navona Square is one of the most stunning and distinctive squares of Baroque Rome, built on the remains of the Stadium of Domitian. The current square’s shape precisely mirrors the perimeter of the ancient stadium constructed by the emperor in 86 AD for athletic competitions and horse racing.
- Campo de’ Fiori - Piazza Campo de’ Fiori is a square known for its famous daily open market in Rome’s historic center. Enjoy free time for a typical Roman lunch at your own expense.
- St. Peter’s Basilica - St. Peter’s Basilica, viewed from outside and the Square, is primarily designed by Donato Bramante, Michelangelo, Carlo Maderno, and Gian Lorenzo Bernini. It is the most renowned work of Renaissance architecture and the largest church in the world. Admission is not included.

- In Rome Vans are better than Buses: Van = up to 8 seats, Bus = from 9 to 50 seats. Note that Buses are not allow in the historical areas of Rome (official ship excursions from Cruise Companies are operated with Buses). This mean that the Bus will drop you off and you will walk for the entire duration of the tour (6/7 hours) to the other side of town at the end of the tour to be picked up. Best Viator’s Rome excursions are with private Vans. Bus in Rome has only a small number of authorized spaces dedicated to pickup/dropoff travellers so, usually, during the city tour you had to walk for about 4/6 miles. In a big group chance are that you’ll have to wait much longer for people lingering at the sights and stand in line longer for the toilets or at the snack counter. You will also have much less one on one time with your driver and guide or time to ask questions, because you’ll have to share them with a lot more people.
