Highlights
  • Mercado del Puerto - The Mercado del Puerto is a delightful destination! This expansive 19th-century market is bustling with restobars that specialize in meats. It’s an optional stop for travelers interested in experiencing a classic Uruguayan Parrillada (barbecue).

  • Plaza Zabala - Walking (optional) Zabala Square features gardens designed by French landscape architect Eduardo Andre, enclosed by iron fences and gates. The square is encircled by Ring Durango Street, named after the district where Zabala was born. On the south side of the square is the Taranco Palace, home to the Museum of Decorative Arts.

  • Plaza Matriz - We can explore this area on foot. The Plaza de la Constitución, also known as Plaza Matriz (Cathedral), is situated in Montevideo’s historic Old City neighborhood. It was the main square of the Fortress City of San Felipe and Santiago de Montevideo and the only public space originally designed as such.

  • Plaza Independencia - Plaza Independencia is the most significant square in Montevideo, Uruguay. Located in the city center, it occupies the space of the former Citadel of Montevideo. The square features a monument and mausoleum dedicated to General José Gervasio Artigas, along with several historic buildings and stunning eclectic architecture.

  • Rambla de Montevideo - The Rambla de Montevideo is a 24-kilometer-long avenue that runs along the coast of the Río de la Plata in Montevideo, Uruguay’s capital.

  • Palacio Legislativo - The Legislative Palace is the seat of Uruguay’s Legislative Branch. It houses the General Assembly, which consists of two chambers that meet separately or jointly depending on the situation: the House of Representatives and the Chamber of Senators. This impressive building is a must-see in the city. Admission to the Legislative Palace is $3.

  • Estadio Centenario - After passing by Batlle Park, we will visit the Estadio Centenario, a must-see in Montevideo. Uruguay was the first world champion, and the Centenario Stadium hosted the finals. Travelers can also request visits to other neighborhoods.

  • El Prado - Prado is a serene and exclusive residential district known for its extensive park, where visitors can stroll among native and exotic plants in the botanical garden and roses around stone arches in El Rosedal. The Blanes Museum, a 19th-century chalet now housing Uruguayan art, offers more gardens. Las Carmelitas, a much-photographed church built in the 1920s, and the Japanese garden are also notable attractions.

  • Montevideo - Various places and features can be added according to your interests, such as winery and vineyard tours, estancia tours, and professional photography to capture this great experience.

  • Fortaleza del Cerro - The General Artigas Fortress, or Fortress of the Cerro de Montevideo, is an ancient fortification built in 1808 by order of Governor Francisco Javier de Elío. It is considered one of the main symbols of Uruguay and its capital.

Excellent tour and tour guide! - Favio was an excellent tour guide throughout this trip. He is very knowledgeable about the area and its history as well as things to do while in Montevideo. His tour is a great way to explore Montevideo “your way” as he lets you take your time in whatever area you would like to spend more time in. He goes the extra mile to make sure your tour is a great time. I cannot recommend Favio enough if you’re looking for a tour guide throughout Montevideo and the rest of this beautiful country.

Incredible tour, even better tour guide!! - Favio was an incredible tour guide. My family and I really enjoyed our time exploring Montevideo and getting to learn its rich history. Its not so often you come across a knowledgeable tour guide like Favio. This private tour is a must while in Montevideo because u get to tour the city like a local. The next day we also decided to take another tour guide with Favio to Colonia and it was the best tour for Colonia I believe anyone should do. Lots of the tours are crowded with people so you dont get that personal attention like Favio gave us. Not only is he knowledgeable he is a great photographer as well and really gets to know the people he is on the tour with. I highly HIGHLY recommend booking this private tour with Favio he is the best tour guide in Uruguay.

Favio was great! - Favio was awesome! He helped customize our city tour when our scheduling had to be changed, stayed with us after normal hours, showed us great parts of Montevideo and made excellent recommendations for places to eat. We would highly recommend him to friends who come to Uruguay in the future.

Carlos was absolutely... - Carlos was absolutely amazing! We booked this trip last minute with two small kids. Carlos adapted everything to fit what would fit our family. He was hands on and had great explanations of the city and monuments. We left in love with Montevideo and feeling like we learned so much! Thank you!

This tour did not disappoint - This tour came highly recommended to us and it did not disappoint. Our guide and driver met us promptly and their vehicle was ultra modern and very comfortable. The tour allowed us to get into the smaller neighborhoods and sites that the larger bus tours do not offer. The personalized service also allowed us to stop at locations that were of special interest to us. Montevideo is a magnificent city and this is a great tour to explore it.

The Best in Montevideo - First trip to South America and Uruguay and what better way to do it than with a native! Favio’s knowledge of the area was amazing. He pointed things out to us mere reading of a plaque couldn’t have explained. It was nice not to be bunched into a bus with a group of other people and able to have personal connections and share stories and experiences. There isn’t a rating high enough that I could give Favio.
