Welcome aboard the Christchurch Tram! Travel on our newly extended track & enjoy this unique and historic way to view the inner city. Drivers provide a live and entertaining commentary. A full circuit takes 50 minutes, includes 18 stops and there are up to four Trams operating. Trams run approximately every 15 minutes (season dependent) and your ticket…

Great way to see a lot of the city in a short time. - We only had a little over 24 hours in Christchurch. This was less than we wanted but was dictated by other scheduling constraints elsewhere on our itinerary. The hop on hop off tram was a great way to cover the ground, see more than we would have otherwise and get a commentary thrown in. Evan and Eliot, who took turns as driver and conductor, were a great double act. Suitable informative and humorous patter from both of them, probably honed by many repetitions but sounding fresh and new.

Coming in from Down Under - Highly recommended, the first driver we got was quite the comedian, knew the history of the place he broke the silence good to know the facts about CC. Excellent idea of getting it's well worth the price of $72.28 for 2 adults all day pass. Not sure why NZ Government would spend over $100M for the Art Gallery, restoration of churches etc all in all it's well worth the trip around.

Hop on and Hop off Tram is a must - The Hop on and Hop off Tram is a must, it’s a great way to get around the city and see all the great sights of Christchurch and get off at some good eateries, then just hop back on and see some more sights and rest after that lunch you just had. The tram drivers and conductors are very knowledgeable, friendly, happy and at times funny.

Tram-endous! - Our trip on the vintage trams was a very enjoyable experience and the expert commentary on the buildings and sights we passed added immensely to the experience. The trams themselves are quite a spectacle and if you hop off you never have to wait more than 10 minutes or so for another one.

Great choice - Good, easy way to see central area of the city. Strong tend to fill up, causing some waiting time so not quite as quick as it could be. Also, a lot of tram noise drowns out the driver who was quite informative.

Hop on Hop Off Tram on Cruise Ship Days - The route itself is a nice way to see the city, but be aware of how it works on cruise ship days. What they don’t tell you when you book is that if there’s a cruise ship in, staff make everyone queue at a specific stop and you’re effectively not allowed to board at any other stop before or after that point. This completely defeats the “hop on, hop off anywhere” idea and means you can end up waiting in a long line with no guarantee of a seat. If you’re booking on a cruise ship day, just know you may be stuck in a queue rather than freely
