• Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park - Jigokudani Monkey Park provides a rare opportunity for visitors to observe wild monkeys enjoying a natural hot spring. The park is home to Japanese Macaques, also known as Snow Monkeys, and is situated in their natural environment within the forests of the Jigokudani valley in Yamanouchi, close to the onsen towns of Shibu and Yudanaka.

The park features a single man-made pool where the monkeys congregate, just a short walk from the entrance. Visitors are likely to encounter monkeys along the path to the pool. These monkeys live in large social groups, and their interactions are often quite entertaining to watch. They are accustomed to humans and can be observed from a close distance, largely ignoring their human visitors. It is important to note that touching or feeding the monkeys is strictly prohibited.

The original statue is kept hidden, while a replica is displayed to the public every six years for a few weeks. The next chance to view the statue is anticipated in 2028.
