Tokugawa Ieyasu was instrumental in unifying Japan and is a key figure in the nation’s history. His ascension to shogun marked the beginning of the Edo period (1603-1867), a time of peace and prosperity in Japan’s history, which set the stage for Edo’s transformation into the global city of Tokyo.
A year after his passing, Tokugawa Ieyasu was enshrined at Nikko, elevating him to divine status. Toshogu branch shrines are found throughout Japan.

Rinno-ji Temple - Rinnō-ji Temple (輪王寺, Rinnō-ji) is a significant and historically important temple in Nikkō, Japan.
Founded in 766 AD by the Buddhist monk Shōdō Shōnin, who introduced Buddhism to the Nikkō area.
Part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Shrines and Temples of Nikkō.”

Shinkyo Bridge - A stunning bridge known as Shinkyo Bridge or Red Bridge.
The Shinkyo Bridge is the oldest bridge from the Tokugawa era.
The Shinkyo Bridge stands at the entrance to Nikko’s shrines and temples and technically belongs to Futarasan Shrine.
The current Shinkyo was constructed in 1636, but a bridge has marked the same spot for much longer, although its exact origins are unclear. Until 1973, Shinkyo was off-limits to the general public. It underwent extensive renovations in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and visitors can now walk across the bridge and back for an entrance fee.

Kegon Falls - Kegon Waterfalls is very famous in Japan due to its geographical significance. It is nearly 100 meters deep. An elevator, installed in 1930, offers a closer view of the falls.
