After breakfast and passport checks at KM 82, participants will embark on a 4-hour hike to Hatunchaca for lunch. Along the route, the guide will highlight fascinating plants and Andean crops. A guided tour of the Patallacta Inca site is included. Following a delightful buffet lunch, a 3-hour hike leads to the base camp in Ayapata, passing the last villages of the Inca Trail. Upon arrival, tents will be set up. In the afternoon, the tour guide will introduce the porters, followed by tea time and dinner.
Ayapata - Dead Woman’s Pass - Pacaymayu - Chaquicocha
Dead Woman - The guide will wake participants with a hot cup of coffee. After preparing for the day, breakfast will be served, and the second day on the Inca Trail begins. A 4-hour uphill hike leads to Dead Woman’s Pass or Warmiwañuska. After celebrating the achievement, a 3-hour descent follows for lunch. A protein-rich meal will fuel a 2-hour ascent to the Runcuracay Pass. The journey through both mountain passes offers stunning views of the Andes’ Puna landscape. Upon reaching the Runcuracay summit, a 2-hour descent leads to the Inca site of Sayacmarca, offering views of the cloud forest jungle. After exploring the Inca site, a 40-minute hike to Chaquicocha concludes the day, where the second night’s camp will be set up, allowing for a well-deserved rest.
Chaquicocha - Phuyupatamarca - Wiñaywayna
Winay Wayna - Following a delicious breakfast, a 2-hour hike along a scenic Inca trail surrounded by orchids, ferns, and moss leads to Phuyupatamarca, an impressive Inca site with views of Machu Picchu mountain and surrounding peaks. A 3-hour downhill trek through the cloud forest leads to Intipata, offering a fantastic view of the sacred Vilcanota River, one of the trail’s best vistas. A 45-minute hike from here reaches Wiñaywayna for lunch and camping. In the afternoon, participants will visit the remarkable site of Wiñaywayna, also known as Mini Machu Picchu. After dinner, gratitude will be expressed to the porters, and rest will prepare everyone for the next day’s visit to Machu Picchu.
Wiñaywayna - Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes - Cusco
Santuario Historico de Machu Picchu - An early start leads to a 2-hour hike through a path lined with towering cloud forest trees. Upon reaching the Sungate, participants will catch their first glimpse of Machu Picchu in the distance. A 30-minute hike to the main viewpoint offers the iconic postcard view of Machu Picchu. A 3-hour exploration of the citadel follows, with the tour guide sharing fascinating details about Machu Picchu and its history. Visitors will see the Sun Temple, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Condor Temple, the Sundial, and all main sectors of the sacred citadel. After the guided tour, a 30-minute bus ride to Aguas Calientes will be followed by lunch and boarding the Vistadome Observatory train at 4:00 pm to Ollantaytambo. From there, a car will transport guests back to Cusco, arriving around 7:30 pm.
