Lovely scenery in the Andes - We were told after booking that the driver would text us the night before our tour with a pick up time. They told us 6:30 am and they did pick us up from our hotel at 6:30. The clean van seated 17 people plus the driver. All seats were filled. The driver was also the tour guide. His English was ok, but you could tell he wasn’t super comfortable talking outside of his script. So the long day of driving was pretty silent. First stop was a bathroom break (free). There was also coffee & snacks for purchase. When we got up in the mountains to see the lake/reservoir, the road was closed to traffic. We walked about one mile in to the lake and one mile back out on a dirt road. The way in was a pretty good incline. The dirt road was a little muddy. It also snowed lightly on us most of the time we were there. After getting to the lake, we took a few photos and headed back to the van. It was chilly & windy. I would recommend dressing warm, wearing a coat, gloves and something to cover your ears. After that we stopped to look at a glacier. Then another stop for restrooms. This one cost us 500 pesos each. Again, there were drinks & snacks for sale. Next stop was an old bridge with a waterfall & volcano in the background. Then we stopped at the viewpoint for Cajon del Maipo. After that we had lunch at a nice little restaurant. I ordered chicken with rice & sautéed vegetables. It was really good. The cost was not included. For two people it was about 40,000 pesos. They take visa or cash. The last stop was Casa Chocolate. The house/store is super cute. Everything is carved and very artsy. Inside we purchased gelato & chocolate confections. They also have hot cocoa and coffee. Bathrooms are free with purchase. 1000 pesos without. (Don’t forget to save your receipt to show the attendant.) The last stop was for the picnic & wine. It was at the same place we stopped for restrooms at the beginning of the tour. The picnic options were wine, juice, cheese, salami, crackers with dip, and two kinds of chips (Doritos & potato chips). We were back at our hotel at 4:00 (we were the first ones dropped off). I would recommend this tour if you want to see some beautiful scenery. Our guide wasn’t chatty, but it looks like others are.
