Kids day out - Half a day is plenty with kids although you can’t see everything. Concentrate on kid friendly experiences.

Immersion that takes time - It is an imposing museum, both in structure and content, capable of catching attention for hours – especially for those who appreciate detailed and immersive exhibitions. I really liked the experience, although it is important to highlight: the collection is very vast. For those who want to explore in peace, an entire afternoon is the minimum required. It’s not the kind of “rapid” visit—and it can be both a positive point and a limiting factor. In my case, there was no need to buy tickets in advance and I did not face queues, which made the entrance quite pleasant. The museum itself is very beautiful, with an architecture that reinforces the grandiosity of the proposal. Coffee fulfills its role, without great highlights — functional, but far from memorable. Overall, it’s a solid, well-structured attraction that definitely deserves a visit—as long as you’re willing to devote the time it takes.

The map is great, but I... - The map is great, but I did end up going through the dinosaur rooms backwards. It goes forward through time, so I was walking backwards through time.

Must visit place if you’ve never seen dinosaur fossils - Open at 9am. Cool museum where you would feel like going into the Night at the Museum movie scene. The museum tour for dinosaurs is also very informative.

Awesome in every aspect - The Field Museum was an awesome experience for our whole family. We went on a Saturday over winter break and were shocked by how empty it felt, which made the visit even better. We could move at our own pace, spend extra time where the kids were interested, and even circle back to favorite exhibits without feeling rushed. My kids are animal-obsessed, and the real highlight was the Science Hub. The scientists there were incredibly patient, engaging, and genuinely great with kids. They did a fantastic job adjusting their explanations to match our 5-year-olds’ surprisingly advanced follow-up questions, which made the whole experience feel both fun and memorable. We spent about three hours there and easily could have stayed longer. It was one of those rare museum visits that worked really well for both kids and adults, and we would absolutely go back.

Amazing - The museum is one of the "must" visits in Chicago with kids. The permanent exhibits were great. We went early morning so it wasn't crowded at all 👍

Too Much for 1 Day - There is so much to see and explore. Get rest before coming and go see the things you’re interested in first. There is so much to see and experience that it can’t be done in a single day. My kids have very different tastes and we split up. There was something of intense interest for both.

Same as always - The one thing that is always true about the Field Museum is that it is consistent. The exhibits are usually the same, but there is always a couple exhibits that are switched out. The ones we saw this time were interesting and fun to learn about. I would say this is a must see in Chicago, especially if you get the City Pass.
