Once hailed as the ‘Sweet Capital of the World’, Chicago boasts a long-standing, delectably rich chocolate history, indeed more deep-rooted than its famed deep-dish pizza and Italian beef tradition. None other than Milton Hershey himself acquired his chocolate-making skills at the 1893 World’s Fair in the city, leading to the establishment of his own enterprise a year later. Moreover, several world-renowned chocolate confections, namely Tootsie Rolls, Baby Ruth, Butterfinger, Snickers, 3 Musketeers, and Milky Way, were either conceived or produced in the city. Furthermore, if the wind’s right, the Blommer Chocolate Factory can even fill downtown with a pleasing scent of chocolate.
Our scavenger hunt includes 8 delightful stops in the Loop and River North. Simply decipher the clues, follow the instructions, and submit your responses. Assistance in the form of hints is available if needed.
While no purchase is mandatory during this journey, nothing beats a chocolate delight as a quick refresher, right? Depending on the day, some spots might even distribute sample treats. Enthusiastic hunting to you all!
