Centennial Wheel - Great place to stop, eat and rest. Child and family friendly area. Lots of rides for kids. Went on through Centennial wheel, a bit expensive for 4 people,$94. The wheel had AC and it went around 3x. It was the air show that weekend so it was really cool to be at Navy Pier during that time.

Navy Pier Ferris Wheel - OK, so I'm really not a fan of heights, but my family talked me into this ride. The views were pretty amazing, but I did hand my husband the camera...we were pretty high up. The line moved pretty quickly for us, so we didn't feel the need for the "Fast Pass" (which costs A LOT more). We did at least 3 full revolutions...it was worth the cost.

Wear good shoes - TONS of walking! I had over 14k steps for the day after visiting the Pier. We walked from our hotel (Sheraton) and then back/forth 2x. All shops are indoors. We missed them all the first time down the pier.

Cool area of the city - There is so much to do in this area of Chicago. The Navy pier offers great views and lots of entertainment. We started at the splash pad on the hot day we visited which was next to the butterfly conservatory. On the top floor of the pier were rides and miniature golf. There are plenty of eateries and little shops to browse. The area was clean and had a cool vibe to it. Enjoyed walking around.

Underwhelming - Pretty underwhelming view - whirling around in a circle twice after it taked 15 minutes to load/unload the 42 gondola cars. The observation deck on the Willis Tower is much more impressive of a view. Maybe more interesting for young children but there were eight adults packed into my gondola car and there wasn't much mobility.

Tickets with non-working barcodes - The barcode on the tickets that Viator sent me could not be read by the
Wheel Scanner, they asked me for a QR code and I didn't have it, I couldn't use the tickets, I already requested a refund

Dog Discrimination & Humiliating Treatment by Navy Pier Security - I had an absolutely awful experience today at Navy Pier due to how I was treated by the security staff, not by the Seadog Cruise team, who were wonderful, but by the Pier’s own guards, who were not only misinformed, but needlessly aggressive and humiliating.
I purchased three adult tickets and one dog (POODLE) ticket for the Seadog Cruise, a dog-friendly tour that explicitly welcomes pets. I drove an hour, paid for parking, walked half a mile from the parking garage with my dog in almost 100° heat, and arrived at the security checkpoint only to be swarmed by guards who immediately insisted my dog wasn’t allowed on the property, even after I calmly showed them my Seadog cruise tickets that included a dog pass.
They said “we don’t care” and “only service dogs are allowed past this point”, which is completely false. After I was forcibly escorted off the property and treated like a criminal, I called Seadog Cruises, and their staff was appalled. They confirmed that ALL friendly dogs are welcome aboard and that they would be contacting Navy Pier to educate their security team, since this was entirely incorrect and discriminatory.
The humiliation of being swarmed by multiple guards, treated with zero empathy, and kicked off the property, even by the supervisors while I was simply trying to go on a dog-friendly cruise that I paid good money for is something I won’t forget. Me & my dog were made to feel like a problem for doing absolutely nothing wrong.
The Seadog team immediately refunded me and were kind and very apologetic, but this was never their fault. It was Navy Pier security that failed to understand their own partnerships and chose bullying over basic decency.
Shame on Navy Pier for treating responsible pet owners and paying customers like this. Until they train their staff and update their policies to reflect the businesses they host, I would strongly discourage any dog owner or animal lover from visiting.
