Chiang Rai to Chiang Khong - Pakbeng, Laos

Chiang Khong - Begin your journey with a private transfer at 6:00 AM from the city center of Chiang Rai to the Chiang Khong border, a trip of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Enjoy the scenic views and observe the morning activities of the locals along the way.

Upon arrival at Thai immigration, our driver can assist with visa documentation if necessary. You can obtain a visa on arrival (payable in cash) or use an e-visa. Please remember to bring a passport-sized photo. If you don’t have one, our team can help you get one at the border. We will proceed through Chiang Khong to cross the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge No. 4. A bus ride is required to cross the border (included in the service).

Once across the bridge, our Laos guide will be waiting for you on the Laos side.

Huay Xai - The Laos border control is located in this city. After meeting your Laos guide, they will escort you to the boat pier.

Pak Beng - 10:00 AM: Arrive at Pak Tha for the boat permission checkpoint. Our guide will provide information on the Do’s and Don’ts in Laos, along with some interesting facts. Enjoy a traditional Lao meal for lunch on the boat.

Afternoon: Visit a traditional Kamu village (Ban Khmu Law), a small, welcoming community of about 70 families. Travelers will learn about rural lifestyles in this remote area before continuing the journey to Pakbeng.

5:00 PM: Arrive in Pakbeng for an overnight stay (accommodation not included).

Please prepare a day pack, as you can leave your luggage on the boat.

Pakbeng to Luang Prabang, Laos

Pak Ou Caves - 08:00 AM: Depart from Pakbeng.

Morning: Enjoy a demonstration of local handicrafts by the guide. Participate in preparing Lao desserts and drinks.

Lunch: Savor a traditional Lao meal on the boat.

Afternoon:

Visit Ban Muang village, famous for its Lao whiskey.
Explore the renowned Pak Ou Caves, home to over 2,000 Buddha statues.

Lunch: Chicken Curry.

Luang Prabang - The boat is expected to dock in Luang Prabang around 5:00 PM, and we will transfer you to your hotel. Please inform us of your hotel for drop-off.

• Visa & Arrival Card (Laos – Land Border): Even with a Laos e-Visa, all travelers entering via Friendship Bridge 4 must complete the paper arrival card at the Lao border. Online arrival forms are for air arrivals only.
• Visa on Arrival (Laos): Cash payment required (THB 1,800–2,000 or USD 40). This visa fee is excluded from the tour price and must be paid separately upon arrival at the Lao border.
• Not recommended for same-day arrivals or tight onward schedules. Tour timing may vary due to traffic and operational conditions.
