Feeling on top of the world! - This amazing trip has got to be the highlight of my stay in Beijing! If you are fit and adventurous, this hike will take you away from the tourist traps and crowds and will be one of those memories to hold on to when you leave China. The transport was organised by Mr Lang, who is also available as a guide if you feel you need one. We were picked up from our accommodation by Mr Li, who dropped us off at Gubeikou (2 hours from Beijing) and waited patiently at Jinshanling as we completed our 7-hour trek along the Great Wall. Not for the faint-hearted, the trek will test your fitness as you climb up and down steps to the many watchtowers on the way. The first part takes you back in time and gives you a real taste of the unrestored Great Wall. You'd better hurry, though: a path is currently being built that will take you off the wall further along the route and away from the adrenaline of feeling on top of the world. The arduous route is breathtaking and breathless at the same time, but definitely worth every step! As you leave one region and enter another, you'll pass through a small field and forest and come across smiling women in the middle of nowhere selling you the obligatory Great Wall ticket, and optional tee-shirts to prove back home that you actually made it to the wall! A trip of a lifetime and one that will leave you yearning for more and more....just as well there are other parts of the Great Wall to explore! Not to be missed!

Beautiful, historical adventure - Great day. This is a beautiful, historical hike of about 15 km. Not easy, as some sections are quite steep. Some people said we'd be stopping at the regional border, but we didn't have any problems, and the track was well-signposted. The driver, Mr. Lee, was patient and friendly with us.
