Excellent Family Adventure - This was an incredible hike through the remote Rif mountains, through many different micro climates, up and over ridgelines, and along deep canyons. We saw several troupes of monkeys, fresh snow amongst towering pines, and endless vistas punctuated occasionally by Berber villages. We especially appreciated that we started the hike directly from the Chefchaouen medina.
The inns along the way were simple and rustic with piles of warm blankets and surprisingly hot showers. The food in Akchour was good but in Affaska the dinner and breakfast were exceptional.
Our guide, Najib, was helpful and happy to answer questions. He was unobtrusive and let us enjoy the hike by ourselves when we wanted to. Booking information beforehand was a bit sparse, so be sure to ask whatever questions via Whatsapp you need.
We kept track of some approximate information to help: First day is 12 miles, 1200 meters up then 600 meters down. Took us 7 hours. Second day: 9.5 miles, a little bit of uphill 600 meters down, 5.5 hours. Last day was very chill, 4 hours of hiking with not a lot of up or down, though you can do more if you'd like. We did the hike with our 8 year old and she didn't have a problem, though she is a pretty accomplished hiker.

Amazing trip in The Rif mountains! - It was a great trek with Chefchaouen Adventures.
Booking and communication was clear and and easy. My guide, Yassine, was excellent. Friendly, knowledgeable, and super fun. The trip was a really beautiful experience in the Rif Mountains through fields and villages, ending at the gorgeous area of the Akchour Waterfall. Accommodation in rural guesthouses was simple and clean. The home-cooking each night was definitely a highlight! Its a beautiful area, and best experienced on foot walking the historic donkey trails and village paths of northern Morocco.

Great experience - This hike was a highlight of our trip to Morocco. You not only immerse yourself in the magnificent landscape of the Rif Mountains, but also in the lives of the people who live there. Our mountain guide told us a lot about the history, the plant and animal world (we actually saw monkeys) and the traditional way of life and was a pleasant and smart conversation partner at all. We could visit the falls and the bridge of God in the pleasantly quiet morning hours, when the magic of this place is still really noticeable. The food on the way was absolutely great.
What you should know beforehand: 1. you need physical fitness to handle the 1400 meters of altitude of the first day, 2. the accommodations are really very simple (a cabin sleeping bag was helpful).

3 day trek from Chefchaouene - Great trek into mountains with excellent guide Yassine who looked after us so well. First day was steep and hot but the views were stunning particularly once over the pass and amongst the beautiful Moroccan firs. Superb Gite Afaska was traditional and authentic, Saida’s cooking was the best we had in Morocco! 2nd day spent along spectacular mountain paths, spring flowers in full bloom, my legs even held out for the walk to the falls at Akchour on day 3. Thank you to guide Yassine for being so friendly and attentive keeping us safe and happy all the way 😊

Gorgeous hike through stunning Moroccan landscape - We started the 3-day trek from Chefchaouen to Akchour Falls with Semo, who was lovely company and an encouraging guide for our 11-year-old who at times struggled with the long distances. The first day was a total of 22km and about 14 km of it was a climb up to 1800m and then descending to 1200m at a lovely farmhouse hosted by Sayeeda who is an amazing cook. Dinner and breakfast are both utterly delicious and fresh. Day 2's trek was around the same distance and very picturesque, walking through poppy fields and narrow trails carved into the mountainside. The steep drop down into the gorge to God's Bridge was a bit of a challenge for old knees. We had to curtail the final day's walk in Akchour Falls as our 11-year-old couldn't manage much more than 10km. We will be back!

Wonderful trekking - My girlfriend and I had a wonderful 3 days trekking together with Semo.
The scenery absolutely amazing. We slept in original Moroccan houses, and had very delicious food.
The hike was challenging but very doable. The first day we climbed all up to the 2000m mountain. The second day we descended in the direction of the God's bridge. The last day we did a 15 km walk to the waterfalls (back and forth).

Wonderful hike in the Rif Mountains - Stunning landscape with Semo, a fabulous, knowledgeable and caring guide! I loved every moment of a 3 day hike in the Rif Mountains, to see some monkeys along the way, and to eat local food, particularly at Saida's auberge in Afeska. Saida could not have been more welcoming and kind, and the gite was very cozy. Mind, it gets pretty cold in December but it's worth every minute.
