Day 1 | Addis Ababa ✈ Jimma – Journey to Chebera-Churchura National Park

Chebera Churchura National Park - In the early morning, guests will be collected from their hotel or Addis Ababa Bole International Airport and taken to the airport for a domestic flight to Jimma. Upon reaching Jimma, they will meet their expert guide and driver to commence the picturesque drive towards Chebera-Churchura National Park, passing through coffee plantations, rivers, and rural scenery.

Once inside the park, guests will embark on their first guided game safari. Chebera-Churchura is home to African elephants, buffalo, hippos, antelopes, warthogs, monkeys, and a vast array of bird species. The park’s varied ecosystems—savannah, forest, and riverine areas—provide excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing.

Arrive at Chebera Lodge in the late afternoon. After checking in, guests can unwind and enjoy the tranquil wilderness surroundings. Dinner will be served at the lodge.

Full Day Safari in Chebera-Churchura National Park

Chebera Churchura National Park - Following breakfast, guests will set out for a full-day safari within the national park. The day will be spent exploring deeper sections of the park with multiple game drives, covering various habitats and scenic viewpoints.

Guests may encounter large herds of elephants, buffalo, antelopes, monkeys, and abundant birdlife. Visits to rivers and natural water points where animals frequently gather, as well as areas known for waterfalls and lush vegetation, are included.

A picnic lunch will be enjoyed inside the park or guests may return to the lodge, depending on wildlife activity and conditions. In the afternoon, wildlife viewing continues before returning to the lodge to relax and enjoy the sunset views.

Morning Hiking – Drive to Jimma

Chebera Churchura National Park - After an early breakfast, guests will enjoy a guided morning hike or nature walk. This experience offers the opportunity to explore the park on foot, learning about local plants, animal tracks, birdlife, and the park’s ecosystem from the guide.

Following the hike, the drive back to Jimma will commence. Guests will arrive in the afternoon and check in at Haile Resort Jimma, one of the finest hotels in the area. They can enjoy free time to relax, use the resort facilities, or take a short walk around the surroundings.
