Drayton’s History - Great tour and actually very moving to hear what the experience was back then, especially the plight of the slaves. Autumn told the stories so well, you almost felt the ghosts of the manor and the stories they wanted told

Beautifully Preserved Plantation! - Drayton Hall is a must see plantation when you are in the Charleston area. We learned the valuable difference between “preserved” and “restored” when it comes to the historical accuracy represented from the Civil War and pre-Civil War era. We were enlightened and saddened too, to learn more about the abuse the south played in the lives of African Americans by wealthy plantation owners. Drayton Hall is carefully preserved to give visitors a glimpse of life as it was up to 300 years ago. The huge and striking trees, and the artifacts on display tell show the affluence of the era and Drayton family. Visit as many plantations as you can when in the area, but don’t miss this “preserved” rather than “restored” plantation.

Very nice property - This property is a few moles from charleston in a huge park. The visit was particularly interesting, led by a highly educated and interesting speaker. The house is not furnished but contains beautiful wall decorations.

Great piece of history - Very interesting and informative tour of one of the oldest preserved plantations in the country. The house is well-preserved in the state it was in when purchased by the National Trust. The museum is small but interesting and the gift shop has beautiful items but NO drinks or snacks, so be aware.

Highly Recommend! - My family loved touring this house so much! We had an excellent tour guide who was knowledgeable and made the tour fun. We chose this plantation house tour over the others nearby because it is the actual original house and the oldest surviving plantation house near Charleston. We are so glad we visited Drayton Hall. We didn't have much time to explore the grounds but everything looked lovely. We even got to speak with an archaeologist working on the site!

Drayton Hall plantation - The plantation was preserved rather than restored which gives you authentic view of the past. The tour guide was quite knowledgeable as she was also working on the archeological team. Provided history of slavery, economy, and social status issues. Highly recommend. It’s about 25 minute drive out of Charleston
