Highlights
  • Elafonissi Beach - The road ends 1km (0,6 miles) before the beach. You will have to walk on a dirt track for 15 minutes down and 20 up the road. It will be harder to visit Elafonisi beach for children, persons with health problems or walking difficulties. Elafonisi is located in the southwestern most tip of Crete. It is an oblong peninsula, which often breaks in two parts by water giving the impression of being a separate island. Exotic beaches with white sand and turquoise water, are formed on either sides of the peninsula. The sand is pinkish in many places, taking its color from millions of crushed shells. Near the breaking point of the peninsula, the sea creates a small lagoon which you can cross the lagoon in order to reach the island. The island is a mile long, ending in a rocky outcrop. Elafonisi is a Natura 2000 protected area home to more than 100 rare plants and a great shelter for rare loggerhead sea turtles.

Beach and Lunch in Heaven! - Hello, we were on a cruise in the Mediterranean Sea. We had a 12 hour stop in Crete. Our choice was the Elafonisi Beach. I have been to beaches around the world, clearly this is my new #1 i will compare to all others. Absolutely perfect for families, couples and friends. While most of the pink beach is now gone you can see it especially at the sand bar area in the middle of the water. It is a 90+ min ride from Cruise Port. Fortunately our awesome tour guide Sophia was able to call ahead and get us sun beds with two umbrellas. The place fills up by 9 AM. That said you can buy umbrellas there as you walk down or bring them along cheaper in the town before. The water is the clearest I have ever seen for salt water, no algae. The beach is huge and you can walk out a great distance before reaching 5 feet, ideal for those who like to paddle out and talk and families with little kids. There is lots of beach to hike not feel crowded. We stayed 4 hours which was probably plenty for us. The trip to and from the beach was amazing our guide was very informative about Crete being a local who grew up there left and has come back for family life. The tour finished with an awesome lunch at local family restaurant, very affordable for families or newly weds. Food was top 3 on our extensive trip to Mediterranean. The best Moussaka and Dolmades I have ever eaten.

A wonderful day in May - This was one of the highlights of our visit to Crete. Our guide Sofia, was amazing. She was incredibly knowledgeable about this beautiful island with driving skills on winding and narrow roads rivaling any "ice road trucker". We were lucky enough to have her husband join us on the trip (two guides for the price of one). The beach was pristine with the clearest water I have ever encountered. On our way back to town we stopped at a family restaurant with fabulous home made food. Take this tour if you visit Crete, you will not regret it for a moment.

Crete tour with George - Took this tour in Crete lead by George. It was my husband and I with our two kids and niece. I have to start off by saying that George was an amazing tour guide and the best we’ve ever had. He explained the history of Greece and made sure we had plenty of time at each stop. He also took us to a local restaurant that was incredible. Please do not hesitate to book this tour you will not regret it! George we hope to see you again someday!

Elafonisi Day Trip - Sofia was our guide - she was so welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. We stopped at cool spots along the way to the beach that we would have never known about! Elafonisi was beautiful and we took so many photos. Sofia also recommended an incredible lunch spot that was family run - it was the best meal on our trip! We had an amazing time and would do it again!!

Highly Recommend!!!! - My husband and I had a fantastic time on this tour! Sofia and Peter were lovely and took great care of us the entire way there. We learned so much about Crete during our drive to the beach, and they kept things interesting and fun. We stopped to view Topolia gorge and there were opportunities to visit an olive oil factory and other sites. As for the beach, it was PERFECT! We fully recommend this family run business and will use them again in the future!

The Best Way to Enjoy the sights in Crete! - Excellent tour! Peter, George and Sofia are excited to show you around and will arrange a tour to exactly match whatever you are interested in. In 2 days with them, we were able to tour an olive oil factory, do a wine tasting, hike Imbros Gorge and walk along Elefonisi beach, with various stops along the way. Everything was comfortable and well organized. Many thanks to our excellent guide Sofia for never rushing us but somehow getting us to our bookings right on time! The best way to see the sights around Chania - don't even consider driving yourself! So happy we found this tour company!

Nice break for sight seeing - Great communication and smooth pick up it is a long drive to the beach - 2 hours over some winding roads. There is a bit of a walk to the beach over uneven paths. The beach is beautiful. Fine sand - but only a little of it is pink. The water is beautiful shades of blue turquoise and is shallow for wading. Beach chairs, umbrellas, and snacks available. The guide/driver stopped for restrooms and snacks which was very nice. Weather was windy so did not stay long as the sand was blowing. On the way back, an option for a local lunch was offered. Great accommodating guide. Nice break from sightseeing.

Do not book with this vendor !!! - We did not take the trip because the vendor wanted an extra 1000 euros after our party of 12 had confirmed the price, with a Viator agent on the phone, of 848 euros and paid the fee. This issue was reported to Viator and American Express.
