Our tour includes a trip to the revered Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, perched atop a mountain, offering incredible panoramic views of the city. We also make a stop at the culturally-rich Hmong village. Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is among the city’s most sacred temples, with a history dating back to 1383 under King Keu Naone’s reign. Its mystical origin involves a wise monk from Sukhothai who directed the Lanna king to build a temple housing the twin of a miraculous Buddha relic. This relic was placed on a white elephant that roamed the mountainside until it passed away at the site where the temple now stands - a spot considered chosen by divine intervention. To reach the temple, one can either take on the challenging 306-step staircase as a meditative undertaking or opt for a more comfortable tram ride.
