Long day but awesome tour! - Really appreciated this day tour to Chiang Rai! Of course it was a very long day (between 13-14 hours) - it has to be given how far Chiang Rai is from Chiang Mai. But we saw a lot, our guide was absolutely lovely, and we had a great day. Would recommend this tour if you don't have enough time to stay in Chiang Rai itself.

Smile for smiles - Tour guide Smile and driver Mark were fantastic. We squeezed alot into 1 day and they were good about keeping us on schedule. Smile had good tips of yummy deserts. We squeezed in a long neck village and foot hot springs as well. Highly recommend!

I highly recommend this... - I highly recommend this tour. Although Chiang Rai is about 3.5 hours from Chiang Mai, all the places we’ve visited were worth the long trip. Our guide Ms. Fern is knowledgeable. She told us about the sites. My husband and I especially love the White Temple. It was interesting to know about the history of the Golden Triangle.

Best value for the price - Even though we saw some bad reviews, we decided to take a chance. And it was a great idea. The tour is nice, they get you at your hotel, the driver does his job fast but accurate, the guide was incredibly nice and the boat minitrip was the cherry up the cake. It is true that a bit more explanations about Thai culture and Buddhist traditions inside the temples would make the experience full, but those given were sufficient. Definitely would recommend this tour to anyone willing to do the Chiang Rai area in a day, best value for the price that we were able to find. Thanks guys!

Day from Chiang Mai - Both temples seemed too "artificial" to us, especially the white one. The black house is gorgeous and we wish we had spent more time there than the tour allowed. Unfortunately, during the boat trip to the Golden Triangle we were unable to disembark in Laos as the guide told us that the border was still closed. Unfortunately no one had warned us before the excursion. Friendly and engaging guide.

A Long Day - This is a long day if you're starting in Chiang Mai. The white wat is stunning from the outside and is the highlight of the day by far. It's been beautifully built but is very modern. There are some lovely other buildings in the grounds. The national artist has a separate section and clearly he loves himself with the amount of sculptures and pictures of himself around the place. The blue wat is also beautiful from the outside but is less impressive inside. As for the black houses, this is an interesting collection of old buildings but you can't go into most of them and it gets a bit repetitive. The main building has a lot of paintings and furniture but it won't be for everyone's taste. Not worth coming all the way from Chiang Mai if this is your only destination but if you're including other sites nearby, probably worth a 45 minute stop. I noticed a number of other reviewers commenting on the speed of the drivers. Ours clearly thought he was in a formula 1 racing car and drove in straight lines on some twisty sections of the mountain highway. That said, he was safe but if you're a nervous passenger, you might want to sit way in the back of the van.

Disappointing - We had to pay for the long neck (600 THB) not included in the tour but the people with us had taken it. On the way back, the driver left us in the street 1km from the hotel while the other people arrived in front of their hotel. The 4 hours back after a long day are exhausting. The golden triangle and the not-so-great boat excursion. The white temple and the black house are to be seen but the blue temple is Disney! The lunch was not good at all, lots of choice but everything was dry.

I could have just kept the temples. - The trip to the temples was good and the temples are beautiful but the rest is a waste of time. We had to pay to enter the village of women with neck rings because if we didn't pay we would have to wait 40 minutes outside while members of the group went. The guide said it was an optional tour but this never appeared in the tour description or any other information about detouring an hour from the tour for this. The Mekong visit is not worth it. Hours are wasted traveling for a bad boat trip, in an area that has nothing and precarious infrastructure. There is no beauty either. It's a four-hour drive back. Extremely tiring. We arrived back in Chiang Mai after 22:00. In short, only take a trip to the temples that are worth it. Don't go to the Mekong and Golden Triangle.
