- Drogarati Cave - Discovered 300 years ago, Kefalonia’s Drogarati Cave opened to the public in 1963 after an earthquake revealed its entrance. This breathtaking cave features stunning stalactite and stalagmite formations. Speleologists estimate the cave to be around 150 million years old, showcasing an extraordinary geological phenomenon. It extends approximately 60 meters deep and maintains a steady temperature of 18 degrees Celsius, with high humidity. It’s a perfect spot for capturing beautiful photographs that will be cherished forever!
- Melissani Cave - Melissani Lake is a captivating highlight of Kefalonia. Visitors can purchase a ticket (not included in the price) to enjoy a boat tour around the lake, lasting about 30 minutes, which includes a visit to the closed part of the cave and the islet where excavations occurred. The cave walls feature stalactites and flowstones with unique shapes, some resembling dolphins, which the boatman will highlight, as dolphins are significant in mythology. Melissani Lake still holds many secrets. The water is brackish, fed by several springs, including “Katavothres” near Argostoli. An earthquake caused part of the cave’s roof to collapse thousands of years ago, allowing daylight to illuminate the lake’s deep blue waters.
- Karavomilos Lake - Located just outside Sami, towards Agia Efimia, Karavomilos is a quaint fishing village with a long, narrow shingle beach offering stunning views of Ithaca. The picturesque Karavomilos is named after a small circular lake near the local water mill. The area is lush with vegetation, attracting wildlife such as ducks, swans, and herons. The lake is part of the underground freshwater flow phenomenon from Katavothres near Argostoli to Melissani Lake.
- Agia Efimia - Agia Efimia is a charming scenic beach located 31.5 kilometers northeast of Argostoli, Kefalonia’s capital. It offers tranquility and features delightful tavernas and shops. Situated around a natural bay, it has a quaint harbor where fishing and excursion boats dock.
- Divarata - A brief photo stop is arranged above Myrtos Beach, one of Europe’s most beautiful and photographed beaches, followed by a quick refreshment break. Divarata is a small village above Myrtos Beach, where visitors can purchase souvenirs and enjoy chilled refreshments.
- Myrtos Beach - Myrtos Beach in Kefalonia offers a wonderful opportunity for a refreshing swim or a relaxing drink at the charming beach bar. Sun umbrellas and beach mats are provided. Myrtos is undoubtedly one of Kefalonia’s most stunning tourist spots, located north of Argostoli in a breathtaking setting surrounded by lush green hills. It is internationally renowned and frequently listed among Greece’s top beaches, having appeared in numerous global tourist magazines. It has received many awards for its cleanliness and natural beauty.
- Myrtos Beach - A drive above Myrtos Beach leads to the world-famous photo shoot point, offering an excellent chance to create lasting memories. The drone will capture unforgettable photos!
- KOUTAVOS LAGOON ARGOSTOLI - The Koutavos Lagoon is a fantastic nature reserve for wildlife, including the Caretta Caretta turtle and various bird species. Situated near the head of Argostoli Bay, the town’s largest park is a shaded forest of eucalyptus and pine trees, accessible by walking or cycling along the wide trail encircling the lagoon from the harbor front. Before the Drepano Bridge was constructed in 1813 to improve access to Argostoli from settlements across the bay, the lagoon was an almost impassable bog filled with mosquitoes and malaria. A small islet in the lagoon’s center is off-limits to visitors as it serves as a nesting and feeding area for waterfowl. The Koutavos Lagoon is located near the mouth of Argostoli Bay.
