A Very Memorable Cruise Excursion - Sharon and Abner were our guides for our group of eight: one couple from a cruise ship and six men on a guys trip through Central America. Sharon gave us lots of background and info about Belize on our hour long ride to the kayaking site, very interesting look into life in her country. We took a short hike to get to the water and caves (have good shoes for a rocky wet path and a change of clothes if you want to swim). With a brief decription of how to handle the kayaks and what to anticipate, we set off for an amazing trip through the caves interspersed with sunlit spaces. Our other guide and driver, Abner, took over as the guide on the water. We learned about the Mayan culture and the role the caves played their history. It was just the right amount of challenge for an active yet relaxing activity for our day. Both guides were very professional, helpful and entertaining with their knowledge and humor. They also were very diligent about getting both groups back to town for meeting scheduled departure times. Lunch at the end was good local type cuisine (not gourmet). The one vendor we checked out at the site was selling a longsleeve tee for $50 which suggested the prices run on the high side. We passed.
