We’ll sail through the area where submarine volcanic activity first occurred around 500,000 years ago, with eruptions happening beneath the sea off Sicily’s ancient coastline.
- Lungomare di Ognina - Ognina is Catania’s maritime district and main fishing hub.
- Aci Castello - At Ulysses’ Caves, you can enjoy the first swim of the day. These caves are set in a stunning lava cliff overlooking the sea, with beautiful backdrops ranging from dark blue to green to light blue.
- Castello Normanno - This medieval castle by the sea is perched on a rocky outcrop extending into the water. Built in 1076 by the Normans on the foundations of a 7th-century Byzantine fortification, Aci Castello began to expand in 1169 after a Mount Etna eruption rendered nearby towns uninhabitable.

Additional Information
Enjoy a private 6-hour sailing journey (from 10am to 4pm), where the boat is exclusively booked for you and your party. We’ll tour the Gulf of Catania, see Etna and Catania from the sea, sail along the Cyclop’s Coast, and take a swim near Ulisse’s Grotto. When it’s time for lunch, we will first pass by the medieval Aci Castello Castle before anchoring near the Faraglioni Rocks, close to the ‘Isole dei Ciclopi’ nature reserve. Here, you can choose to dive or snorkel using rented gear (an additional option), or simply enjoy swimming around the clear waters near the sailboat. Meanwhile, our sailor chef will prepare a delicious Sicilian feast for you to savour onboard. Lastly, we will sail back towards Catania port, sharing some essential sailing knowledge along the way, or carry on with our boat party, depending on your preference.

- Passport name, number, expiry and country is required at time of booking for all participants
- A current valid passport is required on the day of travel

Great experience with awesome people - This was a really great experience. You stop for a couple of swims, have an apperitivo and a light lunch on board, and can enjoy cood prosecco while sailing near Catania coast. Sailing boat was good and clean. Crew were very nice guys, didn’t hestitate to share a lot of cool stories about Sicily, Etna and sailing in general.

Perfect day! - This was one of the best days of our week long trip to Sicily. So much fun! Gianluca and Carlo were amazing - showed us some beautiful places along the coast, shared interesting stories, made us lunch, poured us prosecco, made us laugh - it really felt like they were a part of our friends group :) Communication was super easy and we really enjoyed their company. We stopped for a swim for a few times, jumped in the water, sunbathed and just relaxed. This was such a perfect day. We were a company of 4 friends (2 couples) and I highly suggest to take this private cruise if you are traveling with friends. And also if you are traveling with family or just your other half. I didn’t want this cruise to end. Hope to come back one day and do this again! :) Thank you Sicilian Sail, Gianluca and Carlo! Signe, Toms, Marlena and Martins from Latvia are wishing you all the best! Hope to see you guys again someday!

The best tour in Sicilian waters - My excursion on the waters of Sicily was fantastic. We sailed along the coast, admiring breathtaking landscapes and crystal clear waters. The guide was competent and the food on board was delicious. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to discover the beauty of Sicily from the sea.

Incredible private boat tour in Catania - We had an amazing time! Giulia and Benjamin were wonderful. Benjamin taught me a little bit about sailing and Giulia prepared a delicious lunch and snacks as well as some prosseco! The views of Catania and the Etna were stunning. Would definitely recommend.

Not to be missed - I work on boats and I said I'm going on a sailing trip, what can I say I didn't think I'd feel so good, at ease as if I were family, friendly and professional and even though I'm fussy about eating I ate very well thanks guys

An unforgettable day on a boat - The experience is unique. Ivan is very nice and very good at the helm, he and the staff made us experience a day full of relaxing and carefree sailing. They also listened to all our requests, including the request to take a swim in the afternoon in front of the sea stacks. A tour with them is a guarantee we will definitely return

Most amazing experience on the island! - We've had an amazing time with Ivan an Ianira in our first sailing experience!
We were a group of 6 and went for the private tour. We boarded the boat around noon, and we were immediately introduced with Ivan who's not only a great sailor, but a very funny and nice human being. Ianira, our hostess, kept us entertained with her contagious smile and laughter.
We arrived at the ISole dei Ciclopi where some of us took a dive. If you're not a professional swimmer like me, I still encourage you to do it, but using the lifebuoy. Ivan reassured me is be safe and indeed it was.
On our way back, Ianira prepped some appetizers and served us Prosecco at discretion.
We will most definitely sail with them again if we're coming back to Sicily. 1000% recommend the tour. And Ivan and Ianira.🤍
