Avoid this tour - unprofessional and dangerous situation - We had an absolutely shocking experience with this company at Mount Etna and feel genuinely compelled to warn others. We booked a tour a week in advance which clearly included a drive around Mount Etna in a Jeep, a food tasting and a lava cave visit. The day before the tour they messaged asking if we could switch from Wednesday to Thursday due to overbooking but we replied saying we could not change to Thursday. They replied “perfect see you tomorrow” so we assumed everything was confirmed and our tour was going ahead. It was not. We arrived Wednesday morning and were picked up by a man in what we assumed was the “jeep” — a Toyota Land Cruiser. The drive up Mount Etna started off as expected and was quite scenic. We stopped briefly at a coffee shop and then did a short walk to a viewpoint. At this point, everything seemed in line with what we had booked. However, instead of heading to the food tasting (as per the itinerary), we kept going further up the volcano. After about 40–50 minutes, it became clear something was very wrong — we had been put on a completely different tour. We were on the so-called “adventure tour,” which involves hiking and climbing Mount Etna. We confirmed this with other guests who had all booked the "adventure tour". This was not what we booked, not what we wanted and most importantly, completely inappropriate given that my wife is pregnant. She was unknowingly put in a physically demanding and potentially dangerous situation that we would never have agreed to. When we questioned the guide during the hike, his response was dismissive: “we’ll have a look when we get back, there was a bug with the bookings.” By that point, we were already far into the hike and unable to turn back. After approximately 4 hours, we were finally taken back to the vehicle and driven back to Catania. When I asked again what had happened, the guide casually said he would message me later that day and then walked off. No urgency, no apology, no accountability. We waited until the other guests had left and we made it very clear to him that my wife is pregnant and he had put her in a dangerous position. His response? He blamed her. He said it was her fault for not telling him she was pregnant — completely ignoring the fact that the original tour we booked was perfectly suitable and did not require any such disclosure. We had no idea we had been put on a different tour until we were already deep into it. He once again promised to message us that evening with an explanation and a discounted price. No message ever came. I followed up the next day. Still no response to this day. We are absolutely appalled. This company not only switched us onto the wrong tour without telling us but failed to carry out even the most basic duty of care. There were no health checks, no communication and zero concern for safety. The guide’s attitude was dismissive, unprofessional and quite frankly disgraceful. We are still waiting for a response, but at this point, we have no expectation of receiving anything back. AVOID this company at all costs. This experience was unacceptable.
