Etna and Alcantara Gorges offer an ideal day trip for those eager to explore two of the world’s most stunning locations. Experience the lunar landscapes of Etna and the water-carved lava stone canyon of the Alcantara Gorges. Starting from our pickup point in Catania, the day includes a visit to a natural lava cave, a leisurely panoramic walk through ancient craters, and a tour of the sites of the most recent major eruption (2001). We’ll take a lunch break where you can either enjoy your own picnic or purchase food. Post-lunch, we’ll head to the Alcantara Valley, giving you an hour to explore the gorges via public access stairs. For Etna, layered clothing is recommended due to unpredictable mountain weather—think pants, comfortable shoes (sneakers suffice), and jackets. For the Alcantara Gorges, bring shoes suitable for walking in the river and a swimsuit.
