Wissal was the best host... - Wissal was the best host ever! She showed us how to cook a traditional morrocan tagine done by a special family recipe and let us try beautiful traditional clothes. Most importantly, she had a warm and welcoming energy, and the whole evening felt like a night in with a friend instead of an organized activity. It was a truly magical and fun experience that I would recommend to anyone who comes to visit Casablanca and wants to experience the true Morrocan hospitality!

Best cooking experience EVER!! - This was easily one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! Wissal was so kind and invited us into her lovely home where we also got to meet her family. She was so flexible and inviting and had everything planned out perfectly! We got to cook some delicious dishes and try on some of Wissals dresses which was so special. We learned so much about her culture and really was a great way to end our Moroccan adventure. Highly highly recommend this experience and it will definitely be a part of my trip when I come back to Casablanca! Thank you again Wissal!!

A perfect start to our Moroccan adventure - We decided that a cooking class on Day Two of our 23-day wander around Morocco was good timing. Well, thanks to the charming and talented young Wissal Bahadou, we received an amazing orientation session and a delicious meal.
We arrived in Casablanca the previous day with no itinerary and little knowledge of the country's culture and food beyond what our Lonely Planet Guide provided but Wissal took care of that in a single afternoon.
The private class (just my wife and I) was held in her family apartment. As a recent university graduate, Wissal still lives at home with her parents and older brother. While Wissal quizzed us about our interests, her mother bustled around in the kitchen preparing ingredients and cookware. After half an hour of spiced coffee and sweets, we headed to the kitchen for 90 minutes of chopping, stirring, simmering and laughing.
We prepped a lemon-chicken tagine, a zaalouk (hot salad), fresh moroccan salad, and a pitcher of mojitos. While it simmered away, she led us to the living room to try on some local clothing -- something I thought was going to be silly but it was in fact pretty interesting.
Our early dinner was ready as big brother came home from work (he sells beautiful wooden doors imported from Turkey) so he joined us and got a taste of our high school French. Wassil is the only English-speaker in the family. The dishes were delicious -- one of the four really good meals we had in the country. Wassil and her mother could teach a lot of the country's restaurants a thing of two about tagines and zaalouks.
Foodwise, we got a thorough lesson in typical Moroccan spices and herbs -- and local produce. But perhaps more importantly we got good insight into middle class life in Morocco.
Just before we left, we confessed to Wassil that we had no firm idea where to go beyond Casablanca so she quickly sketched out a travel itinerary for us and told us what bus lines to use. We combined her suggestions with our own seat-of-the-pants travel style and experienced a wonderful overview of the country.
And to our surprise, she texted us every few days to see how we were doing. She's a sweetheart.
A few days later, she sent us a collection of her mother's recipes, complete with photos.
*Be aware that Wissal lives far from the centre of Casablanca and it is best to let her arrange a cab. It's well worth the trip.

Thank you <3 - This experience, the first after the night I arrived Morocco could not have been better selected for me to be welcomed in!
I know I love to cook and eat but I had no idea the thrilling experience that awaited with Wissal.
To start with, the conversation before our meeting was polite and all the right things. Do I have allergies? Do I have a particular Moroccan dish I'd like to learn? Do I need a ride? (Mind you, the driver was great too and gave great tips on how to make my stay much better).
Wissal's experience was everything I loved packed in one! Culture, food, good conversation, music, dance, photos etc. It is safe to say I will be buying my very own tagine soon and definitely making Moroccan mint tea a lot now.
I felt at home (away from home) and for the four hours we spent together (which I did not want to end) Wissal and I bonded like we had known ourselves for years!
I learned so much, felt her mother's love (even in her absence) through her cookies and pancakes, was clumsy (Wissal understands lol) and forgiven haha and ate so much!
I highly highly recommend this a thousand times over - thank you! ❤

A wonderful cultural experience - I had the most wonderful time with Wissal and her lovely mother. Wissal organised a private taxi with a wonderful trustworthy driver that spoke great English and put me at ease immediately. When I arrived she welcomed me warmly and we had a hot drink and chatted. We had spoken via WhatsApp the day before my booking and she considerably asked me if I had any allergies or special requirements , I am celiac so we discussed that and she made sure all food and food prep was celiac-safe, and even provided gluten free snacks. I appreciated her pre-buying the fresh ingredients as as a solo female traveler I was concerned a market visit would be overwhelming and may detract from the safe feeling of Wissal’s experience. She explained everything so well through every part of meal prep and cooking. We made tea and a mocktail (absolutely delicious) , and as the food was cooking I tried on traditional clothing to get a full experience. We ate our meal together and had excellent conversation and listened to Moroccan music. It was like having dinner with a good friend, I really enjoyed my time. It was a highlight of my holiday and I can’t recommend it enough .

A Must-do Experience in Casablanca-Food is just half the Fun! - Exceptional experience-a must do if you want to have a personalized cultural interaction with a family and learn how to cook classic Moroccan food! Wissal and her family were very kind , spoke good English and the ingredients used were top notch spices, vegetables, meat and tea. I now love Moroccan coffee with spices like chai! The 6 kinds of cookies her mom made looked straight out of fancy bakery! Coincidental that I preferred a later dinner time and she asked if I could come at 7 or 8 -we cooked and chatted tried on customary garb-I felt like a princess! An adventure not to be missed! 10 stars in all categories-friendliness, food, fun! ⭐️✨⭐️✨⭐️✨⭐️✨

Absolutely fantastic experience with Wissal! 10/10 would recommend this Moroccan cooking class in Casablanca! - Wissal and her mother were beautiful, kind and wonderful for welcoming me into their home! Wissal was knowledgeable, patient, and incredibly engaging.
Her and I chatted the entire time about life (she speaks very good English). She messaged me the night before asking if had any allergies or wanted to cook a specific Moroccan dish. She arranged a taxi to pick me up/drop me off at my hotel. We started off with coffee (BEST coffee), then started preparing the chicken tagine dish, vegetables, and salad. While the tagine was cooking we had Moroccan mint tea, cookies and pancakes. After tea she brought out the most beautiful Moroccan Kaftans and allowed me to wear a handmade traditional orange/green Kaftan. After taking a couple photos, we prepared virgin mint mojitos and then the chicken tagine was ready.
This meal was absolutely delicious. It was a great introduction to Moroccan food (probably the best chicken and vegetables l've ever had). All the ingredients we used were organic and very fresh.
Thighly recommend this activity with Wissal!!! You will not be disappointed and definitely will not leave hungry. Wissal and her Mother gifted me a small tagine to remember my wonderful experience with them!
Wissal is the first/original woman to offer this cooking class experience in Casablanca. 10/10 book with her!!!!
