Our day with Diego - Our tour guide, Diego, was very good with an Australian accent but now lives in the area. The bus drive to Murica was interesting. The walk around town was easy. Diego handled the celebration and associated additional traffic professionally. Back in Cartagena the naval museum was interesting. The climb up the hill to the ruins was well worth it.
Pick up at the cruise terminal was easy and once done in town, the walk back was only a few blocks.

Great time in Cartagena & Murcia - Our tour guide, Inma, was wonderful. Her English was perfect and she spoke loudly. She took us to the city of Murcia first and showed us the city. She walked slowly so that everyone could keep up. She told us of the history of the city and allowed us free time to take pictures and get a coffee.
The next stop was Cartagena which was fascinating. We did another walking tour with Inma and learned a lot. We then had the option to stay in Cartagena for lunch, or go back to the ship on the tour van. Since we were right across the street from our ship, we spent some leisurely time enjoying the city before walking back to the ship.
I highly recommend this tour.

A great tour - We had a wonderful day. Our guide was well versed in the sites we visited. Value for money trip.
From a very old church to a lovely bakery. What more could you want. The guide was on time and returned us to our ship with plenty of time before leaving the port.

Misleading and very disappointing - We felt like we were misled in regards to the advertising of this tour. Firstly at the time of my booking the tour was advertised as a small group- full day tour 7 - 8 hours, 10 - 18 people only. Our tour consisted of 23 people. The tour lasted 4 hours 50 mins which also comprised of 40 mins free time in Murcia. We received an email from the tour operator just outside the 24hr free cancellation period that they were just advised we could not visit the monastery in Murcia due to an annual festival La Romeria taking place and they would spend extra time in other areas to compensate this. The cancellation of this part of the tour is not the operators fault but this is an annual festival and I expect the tour operator would have been well aware of this even at the time of my booking. The guide Diego was very knowledgeable. After a reasonably lengthy drive to Murcia we walked around the outside of one Cathedral, told about it and then proceeded to walk down the main street in town and then given the 40 min free time. Then the drive back to Cartagena where we visited a submarine built in 1895 (quite interesting) then a short walk into town where we were shown and told about 2 buildings which were side by side. Then a short walk over to the bottom of the Roman Theatre and told about the history of this. The guide advised we come back and look at the theatre ourselves, (there is a 7 euro entrance fee to go inside). He did not make any effort to walk us around the outside of the theatre and said you can go up and take some pictures if you like. We were then asked if anyone would like to return to the ship on the tour bus or stay in town as we still had 3 hrs till boarding. You actually had to walk past the entrance of the port to get to the tour bus so no takers. On the strength of this I definitely would not recommend this tour and will be requesting a refund from Viator.

Beware - We have done many tours thru Viator and have enjoyed them. However, this one did not meet our expectations. Tour guide's English: hard to understand with lots of ahs and hesitations to retrieve the correct words. Due to his struggle to communicate and the amount of information he was trying to share, we lost interest at each stop. 1st stop: mountain top church that was conducting mass, so we had to wait to enter. The scenery was nice. 2nd stop: church undergoing restoration, 1 side was hidden behind drape and scaffolding. Guide's plan did not include entering the church, which was very worthwhile, until the group negotiated time to go in. Lunch was only a 20-min break, not near enough to relax and enjoy the piazza. 3rd stop: across from the port, to hear more history on the architecture. Then we had 'free time" to shop & eat. Free time as part of the tour? We were across from the port! This is not a slam against Viator, the tour company needs adjust their scheduling and provide a more experienced guide-he told us this was his 1st time :(
