Embark on a private tour to Llanganuco Lakes at 9am, journeying through quaint villages and admiring the majestic white mountains. The tour continues to Carhuaz at an elevation of 2650masl. The historical city of Yungay, buried by a magnitude 7 earthquake on May 31, 1970, at 3:20pm, when parts of Huascaran mountain’s north peak triggered a massive avalanche of mud and ice, obliterating Yungay in mere seconds. A one-hour guided exploration is planned, followed by a visit to New Yungay, located 1km north. Approximately an hour later, we arrive at the base of Huascaran and Huandoy mountains, progressing to Yuraccorral. From here, commence a trek through the valley, visiting Orconcocha first and engaging in bird watching, then heading to Chinacocha Lake, before meandering through the lush path of Maria Josefa. The vehicle will be waiting at the trail’s end, ready to transport us to a local country-style restaurant for a self-catered lunch. We return via the same route to Yungay, and then travel back to Huaraz, with an estimated arrival time of 6pm at our Bus Station terminal.
