Private riding tour - Me and my two daughters had our own group with Hanna as instructor. It's a great ride. Lots of galloping and fantastic riding routes. The horses felt very nice and well kept.

Fantastic! - Wonderful place! Incredible horses. Truly cared for, gentle and wonderfully trained. Did the ride with a 6 and 8 year old and Hannah was so attentive with my 6 year old. She felt so safe on her horse and both kids had a spectacular time. Huge confidence booster.
The scene is lovely as well. Lucky to see baby lambs and cows for added cuteness.
The people who work here clearly love the horses and know what they’re doing. This level of love and attentiveness will be hard to match elsewhere!

An amazing ride through the Cardrona valley! - We absolutely LOVED our ride at Cardrona! We booked a family friendly tour, as all 3 of us (13, 16 & 43) had some experience, but hadn't been on a horse for a few years. Hanna created us in the morning, (together with the 2 gorgeous cats), and had already prepared the horses for us. Since it was a bit cold and rainy she gave us gloves and even one of us could use an amazing long jacket, which we really appreciated!! We quickly got onto our horse and took off for the most beautiful ride! The horses were great, so friendly and responsive! Each of them with their own personality, which was explained to us, and showed during the ride. But all very calm and amazing horses! The saddles were very comfortable!
Hanna took us through the fields and up the hills around the stables, and gave us great info about the region and the nature around!
For a small fee we organised that she took photos and videos of us while out, which was great!
We would have loved to keep going for the whole day, as it was such a beautiful ride. And we truly enjoyed it!
Definitely a highlight during our South-Island trip!

Wonderful horse riding experience - It was my children’s first time horse riding and I’m not far from beginner myself. The guides were amazing, friendly, patient and reassuring and it didn’t take long for my son to feel less anxious and enjoy the ride. We crossed a flowing creek, climbed the surrounding hills, walked past some grazing cattle and watched the weather chance dramatically. The views are next level, beautiful countryside and snow capped mountains.
We had an amazing time.

Fantastic Experience - Perfect afternoon trail ride with the family. Summer was our guide and she made us all feel welcome and gave us an insight to the history of the area. Very enjoyable and would definitely return.

Loved it! - Me and my husband did a beginner friendly horse riding tour with Kat, and we enjoyed it so much!
Horses are super sweet and calm, Kat explained everything very thoroughly, some of the details we didn’t know before even though it’s not our fist time horseback riding. She also told us a lot about the area and took nice photos!

The horses have such personalities! They are wonderful and very experienced horses! - The experience was amazing! The horses have such personalities and are so beautiful. The instructors were amazing and kept everything very simple! There was also a ranch cat and ranch rottweiler ❤️ they are so gorgeous! The view is also so incredible and you don't have to be experienced in riding to do this and feel comfortable. Highly recommend 🙌

Beautiful winter morning trail ride in Cardrona - We did a two hour trail ride with Blandine with our two kids under 12 - both kids have some horse-riding experience. Kelly was there to help us set up and both Kelly and Blandine were super friendly and helpful.
They selected horses appropriate for each rider's ability and comfort level.
The ride was beautiful - through some small creeks and the gorgeous hillside around Cardrona.
We all had a great time but this was a major highlight for our children who had been begging for a trail ride given all the awesome outdoor activities we enjoyed throughout our stay in New Zealand.

Great for First Timers - I've never ridden a horse before and I had no issue on the ride. Nor did the ~5 year old in our group 😄. That said, this is a great trip as long as you understand that this is a walk only ride. We knew this going in, so we had a great time. I rode Danny and he was my dude. Very chill and easy to ride. I hardly had to do anything. Emily was our guide and was very helpful to give me the basics of horseback riding in a very short amount of time so that we could get going on the trail. She also took some great pictures of us. If you're an experienced rider, the Discovery Trail probably isn't the one for you (there are others you can do). If you're a first timer or looking for a leisurely walk among the scenery, this is the one for you. Either way, Cardrona horses trekking is the place to go!
